Did Bobby Keys Go To Jail With Keith in Toronto 1977?

I am trying to clear up some confusion in the book (on my end) about exactly what it was that Bobby Keys did by staying with Keith when Keith was going down before his trial. Thx

Bobby Keys wasnt playing with the Stones when they were in Toronto in Feb/March 1977 for the El Mocambo shows.

Does Keith actually say that he was there? confused smiley

Keith didnt 'go to jail' in Toronto. He was released on bail and rejoined the rest of the band for rehearsals.

... if "staying with Keith" means staying in Toronto during the month after the bust,
when his passport had been confiscated and before he was granted a health visa to the US,
that was Stu, not Bobby Keys. and as the good Gazza notes, Keith spent that month in a hotel, not in jail.

i don't know what "going down before his trial" means. his trial was in october 1978
and Keith of course is completely straight :E

Ah yes. I apologize, I meant Stu. I know that he said they had recorded some country duets and such. My bad. Carry on.

..and Keith spent that time in a studio in Toronto, recording demos with a piano and you can hear Bobby play sax

That must be from a different session, seitan - the Toronto '77 sessions are just Keith, with some help from Stu.

But If my memory serves me right - few of those songs have a sax ?
I remember hearing Keith on vocals, Keith or Stu on piano - ( and a saxophone on few songs played by Bobby ? ) - and I remember Charlie interview where he mentioned that Keith did a wonderfull session in Toronto with Bobby and Stu.

There´s a sax here:

Ah yes. That one (and the other solo songs with Bobby on sax) come from spring '81, though.

Speaking of Keith's 1977 bust, did he or Anita bring the heroin into Canada or was it purchased in Canada?

Further to the point of the term "jail" - Keith wasn't in "jail" per se. However, there were RCMP locks on his rooms in the Harbour Castle Hilton. I was a bit shocked when I saw how huge and unbreakable the locks were. (I have no idea why that shocked me!) So in that regard, Keith was "locked up" but in a nicer place than "jail".
