You have to give the Rolling Stones organization credit for spending the money and doing it right. They have done massive-scale shows with superb execution. Just look at how hard they worked on the recent Havana show.

And we are in the social media era, so this Fyre Festival disaster may get some serious traction. Perhaps a class-action lawsuit.

The names of those Tweeting in that article say it all: "William N Finley IV", "Trevor"...

That's a lot of money, $12,000. In the U.S., that's about what those of a median income pay in federal taxes for a whole year. And these corporate gentry trouser stains expect the general public, the working poor, to feel bad that they didn't get to enjoy their tropical country club weekend of fun in the sun.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those stranded "guests" go missing and get sold into human trafficking.

Why would anyone go to that part of the world for any reason? Don't they know how many people have gone missing from cruise ships in that area over the last 20 years? There's a reason for that.

The Caribbean is a hellmouth.

I think it's too easy to say they're rich so they deserve it (I know nothing about the human trafficking angle so will leave that alone). Sure, the vast majority of us couldn't afford a trip like this and probably wouldn't want to go if we could. But that's beside the point. Being ripped off is being ripped off, no matter your income bracket. I don't wish ill on people just because they're rich.

It's been raining and grey here today but reading this brightened up my day immensely.

I Worked at Fyre Festival. It Was Always Going to Be a Disaster.

"In early March, a friend of mine texted me to ask if I wanted to be a talent producer for the Fyre Festival. I’d never heard of it, but the gig involved going to the Bahamas and being paid extremely well. So I said yes and packed my bags. The festival was supposed to be a luxury music retreat where elite millennials could mingle with “influencers” and models. Tickets cost between $1K and $125K, gourmet food and accommodations were promised. I was planning to spend the next two months working on the festival, but a mere four days after I arrived I was back on a plane to New York because the whole thing, as everyone now knows, was a complete disaster. The Fyre Festival disorganizers sent an email to the prisoners they marooned on a tropical island, with a link that offers a refund... with the option of turning down the refund for extra VIP passes to next year's Fyre Festival event. That's right, you can opt out of the refund and spring for yet another $12,000 cheese sandwich.

Incredibly, to some of these millennial best and brightest, that sounds like a plan:

A festivalgoer named Brett Linkletter described his experience on ABC's Good Morning America. "What we thought was cool got really bad really fast," he said. "The drinks were room temperature, there was absolutely no food. ... It was literally like The Hunger Games."

But, Linkletter said, "things could have gotten a lot worse than they did. End of the day, it was kind of a crazy, fun experience, you know, I mean, whatever. And I'm planning on going next year if it happens."

I know friends that go to the islands a couple times of the year and have a very nice time at the Sandals resorts ,I mean they pay thru the nose but it is first class all the way .

Give the Glimmers credit for showing up and playing

It was a different world 48 years ago. The Rolling Stones organization over the past say 39 years has done a fantastic job of planning for shows. I was at the Rich Stadium show in Buffalo 1978 and the crowd control was superbly organized.
