OT: Ticketmaster Loses Settlement & May Owe You

If you bought tickets via ticketmaster between 1999 and 2013 you may be eligible for a credit or voucher

I checked my TM account and found that I got both. I'm not sure that I want to use them, if it means giving TM more money. I'd rather just have the money back, thanks. But y'know what they say about looking at the dental work of gift horses.

Here are some of the details from the press release:

UPDATE JUNE 21 1:35 AM EDT In 2003, the Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster class action lawsuit was filed alleging that Ticketmaster failed to fully disclose to consumers all aspects of its UPS and Order Processing Fees. While vigorously defending the lawsuit, Ticketmaster settled the case in 2013, with the court granting final approval of the settlement in February 2015.

The settlement class includes all consumers who transacted on Ticketmaster.com from 1999-2013.

As part of the settlement,

Ticketmaster agreed to provide all members of the class a $2.25 credit on the future purchase of primary tickets for each transaction over the class period, for up to 17 claims.
In addition, a $5 UPS voucher was made available to members of the class who had used UPS delivery during the class period, again to a maximum of 17 claims.
Also Ticketmaster agreed to provide $5 million in ticket vouchers for select Live Nation concerts through May 2017, subject to availability and a cap of 17 claims per account. Given the tremendous initial interest for these tickets, Ticketmaster will increase to $10 million its allotment of tickets made available through May 2017. The potential for additional tickets will be based on the redemption rates of the discount and UPS vouchers.

I got the maximum of 17 in both vouchers and discounts. The list of eligible shows for vouchers is now up, but unfortunately so far there's nothing I want to see that I don't already have tickets for. However, they'll be adding more, and the vouchers are good through 2020.

One of the girls in the office told me about it yesterday.
Of course when I tried to check out my account the servers were swamped (Not Ticketmaster. . . )
I took another look today, apparently I have 14 sets of $2.25 vouchers and 16 pairs of lawn tickets. Although the listed shows didn't have anything appealing within a reasonable distance.

Such crap! You should be able to use them toward any ticketmaster purchase. The list doesn't have anything in my area never mind anything I would be interested in!

And the hackers have jumped on this news. A person with Ticketmaster on the caller ID called and tried to talk the wife into letting them remote into the home computer. They will try anything!

I think you can use the discounts on any purchase, just not the vouchers.

I had heard about this but hadn't checked it yet...I finally decided to. I have about three pages of vouchers/discounts/freebies!

Probably 90% based on Stones ticket purchases!

The problem will now be finding anything worthwhile to redeem them for.

HA!
What a bunch of bullshit.
I also got the MAX on discounts and vouchers.
A quick search of Detroit/Toledo area eligible concerts comes up: ZERO

thumbs down

I also received the MAX discounts and vouchers.

There's the possibility of using free vouchers for shows with no intention of going to and reselling them - at face value or even below that.
If they sell, great! If they don't sell, no big deal. Either way, I won't let vouchers go unused...even if I have to give tickets away for free or use them to make confetti with.

I was awarded 17 pairs of free tickets and roughly an equal number of discounts. So far the only show on "the list" I would consider is the Gregg Allman casino revue performing at a venue six hours from my home. So far the qualifying events are sh-t, for the most part, and in limited areas of the country.

these things are good until 2020 it seems...maybe a future Stones show will pop up!?!

maybe the stones will offer to do one just for those of us who have vouchers so we can get in for free as pay back for all the money we've spent on them in the past!!

A total hot pile of steaming shit this "settlement" is. Vouchers for 2.25/ticket - big freaking deal! and free shitty seats to shitty shows I have no interest in. Once again the lawyers are the ones who make money and the plaintiffs get screwed in a class action lawsuit. Top it all off with TM basically giving fans nothing. Fans get @#$%& hard and fed beans

got 17 & 17, so i got ripped-off. they owe me another 17 & 17 easy. plus how much you wanna bet it won't apply to the upcoming tour. the act you bought the tickets for should be your first choice, plus comp. seats based on past purchase/rip-off.
this isn't a penalty to ticketmaster, it's the cost of doing business. all wrong/no penalty/life in america.
there is no "d" in america! pay up.

Did you join the lawsuit?

It is amazing that for a coupon/ voucher /refund deal it's pretty much a fckyouverymuch kind of offer where very, very few people get anything that they might want.
It begs the question: why not just give a simple refund rather than this useless voucher/ coupon deal that is of no use to 98% of your customers.

Tells you how little they care.

What's the Uber version of ticketmaster?

On the internet nobody knows

Got the max 17/17, and zero shows in my area with "voucher tickets" available. WTF??

Congrats lawyers, you win again. Everyone else loses.

This is one of the worst class action settlements ever. I'm sure the plaintiffs lawyers got a ton of cash. As for the rest of us, we get nothing of value. And it costs Ticketmaster nothing: no vouchers for any concerts that might sell out. They are giving out vouchers for concerts that would be half empty anyway. Total rip-off.

If you are a class member, you do not have to "join" the lawsuit. You are bound by the settlement unless you "opted out" of the class early on.
