Gave it a listen on the website. Quite possibly the single worst thing I've ever heard! I will actually have a gap in my Metallica collection. No way I'm wasting money on this thing.
And of course, this is the first and only Metallica record to make my collection. And I'm friendly with Kirk and Robert!
There's three or four worthwhile tracks, but Junior Dad alone makes the project a success, adding a significant new song to Lou's oeuvre, which isn't easy when you've made thirty plus albums.

I'm a huge Metallica fan and I gotta say that I'm not very fond of this collaboration,
but on the other hand I sure do respect the guys for trying to do something different for a change.
I do like those brilliant photos taken by Anton Corbijn and my kudos to Metallica and Lou Reed for taking
chances and not playing it safe like other bands would probably have done at this stage in their career.

Seems to have annoyed the Metallica fans more than the Lou fans, going by the outrage.
I've heard Lou do worse, to be honest, although I havent listened to much of it yet.
Cant stand heavy metal at all, so I wouldnt pretend to know the difference between a good or a bad Metallica album.

Being a fan of Mr. Lou Reed music, I find this album one of his best in years. It's straightforward and very emotional unlike his recent previous works. Obviously him and Metallica's had something to share.
I also like their performance at Jools Holland TV show. You can see Lou feels very concerned by his music, which hasn't always been the case the past years.
To me it's the best surprise of the year in music so far.

That said, even with the best blinkers money and love can buy, no way is that Jools Holland anything but a car crash. Both songs are dreadful - and that, almost entirely because of Lou. Metallica do what they do with aplomb and Lou tries to keep up. And fails. It would have worked fine if Lou had his usual road band - Rathke/Saunders and Tony Smith - as back-up.
