Listening to it for a few hours now.

God, this is great Music. Music like it should be nowadays, and is often missed.
Just give this a listen..it will surely, and hopefully cheer you up.

Thanks for the blues... Hope the Stones will do a cover of one of his songs.
Come on ronnie, convince Mick n Keef.

I'm with you. Was hoping for an album like that done by the Stones for a long time.
But I fear its too late now.

Freddie King is ace. thumbs up

Bear Family has released some years ago two box-sets with his complete recordings: Taking Care of Business, with his 1956-1973 recordings and Texas Flyer: 1974-1976.

LOVE FREDDIE ... got the first Bear Family box ... powerful stuff...
Saw him live once back in the early 70's .. made that Gibson look small ..

There was a Clapton interview from way back where he said while on
tour in the states he tracked his idol Freddie down and he couldn't
believe it when he found out that Freddie was also on tour along with
living and doing a lot of loving all from the back seat of his Pontiac GTO convertible .... Clapton went on ta say Freddie was the funkiest guy he ever met

He became a hero of mine when I learned he was a hero of so many of my other heroes (Clapton, Beck, etc.) back when I first started learning to play guitar at 10 years old.

I've loved this video since I discovered it on youtube about 10 years ago.
This is some badass boogie from '73 right here:

Freddie King- Boogie Funk

And then there's the live version of this classic - live c.1966:

Freddie King - Hide Away

As a young 20 something year old kid I had the pleasure of buying The Texas Cannonball a drink at a local Dallas Club he liked to hang in when he was home called Mother Blues. I also saw one of his final performances about 4 to 5 weeks before his passing when he came on to play Eric Claptons encore in Dallas where they dueled on Further On Up The Road. This was October 1976. He passed on December 30th or 31st 1976. May have been November 1976 Ill have to check my ticket stub.

Big fan here. Not sure that I could put into words exactly what it is I like about him vs other artists. I just know that, when his stuff comes on my playlist, it hits me somewhere more natural to my core than some others do. Recently the keyboard player in one of my bands came into rehearsal with a copy of his "Burglar" album (1974) and we've all been grooving on that for the past few weeks. His "Best of the Shelter Years" rides in my car with me "just in case". After seeing the reviews here, I'll probably be trying to chase down the Bear Family collection...

The complete "Burgler" album... Enjoy!

I was driving my daughter around when some Freddie came on... She asked me to teach her to play like that. I told I would do what I could to show her the licks but the feel is something that just has to happen.

there is no one better that Freddie King. equals yes but none better
