"The rock and roll lifestyle is still the goal."
Very cool, thanks.

"The song it uses, "Miss You," wasn't released until 1978 -- six years after the 1972 tour that the ad features. Asked about that timing, a McCann spokeswoman said: "There are so many iconic Rolling Stones songs that came out of the 70s. 'Miss You,' in particular, really captures the feel of that decade so we thought it was a perfect pick."

Either (a) somebody screwed up and they're now trying to cover their tracks, or (b) 1972 and 1978 are completely interchangeable in their minds, when in fact there was a world of change, both culturally and in the Stones music, in just those 6 years. Either explanation is stomach-turning.

I know Drew, but it's just a silly ad, and it's cool that they are highlighting the Stones. smileys with beer

And me too in this case. Miss You to celebrate a 1972 Stones event? Even have to laugh at their concept of "wild" Stones plane party scene from back then. Perhaps they should have used a clip from CS Blues. lol

Agreed. I'm betting this ad was put together by 20-somethings who have no clue about the Stones and what 1972 was really like. (No offense to any IORRians who are in their 20s, by the way). It's absolutely tone deaf.

I'll have to look at a few photos of that "famous" tour that they say has a Quervo connection. I recall a lot of Jack Daniels but not tequila.

More importantly - when and where can you buy these bottles from? Hopefully they are released in Oz/NZ too.

Cheers

Sheesh! Yes - tone deaf. And yes, would make better sense with more Jack and a lot less Miss You. Epic fail.

yeah, tequila was their drink for that tour and poppers & coke were their drugs. where are the "F"ing poppers & coke? and the even bigger sin? who the F are these dorks on the plane? it's only rock n roll and i wouldn't know it if it bit me in the ass.

just what you would expect from dump truck 20 year olds who got good grades in college. "The Stones toured America in 1972 and it was a big deal!"

To reference the 1972 tour specifically and then roll a 1978 song is an epic fail.

Could have used Rip this Joint or Jumping' jack flash or any number of other songs from the tour and it would have been at least historically accurate.

till personally wouldn't have liked the ad though..

The tour later became known as the "The Tequila Sunrise Tour" -- a reference to a Cuervo cocktail the brand says was poured at a private party in San Francisco before the tour began, according to Cuervo agency McCann, which created the ad.

Has anyone ever heard the 72 tour referred to that way?

Even Celine Dion´s tourplane must be more rock´n roll than this.
Polished.
Without a heart and understanding for rock-lifestyle.
Nor the Stones.
Bad, bad acting.
Tooooo long, not timing.
Wrong Song.

Mick should have a look at the ad´s before selling his music to them.

I suspect they really don't know the difference between the STP 72 tour and the punk post disco 1978 era. Probably some 28 year old hipster ad/IT geek doing this.

Lets be honest, they cant really use the 72 tour lifestyle in civilized society!

A better ad would be Keith passed out with Cuervo in his hand. That would rock.

'mixed emotions' here....while it's cool seeing a 'stones ad' this thing is so far off the mark it's embarrassing.

and as far as 'tequila sunrise' tour, I've never ever ever heard that one before.

Didn't Keith refer to it as the tequila sunrise & cocaine tour in his book?

Perhaps they are smarter that we think and have intentionally made these misjudgments in order to create a controversy and get people talking about Cuervo?

Even Celine Dion´s tourplane must be more rock´n roll than this.

Nice one caschimann, that got me smiling this morning!

Id love a shirt or two, or some other swag, I think the ad is fun, then again I am not as uptight as some people around here, none of this music stuff is all that serious, it is mostly for fun for me.
