OT: Brackets?

Does anybody know why, next to our usernames, there's always these double brackets that look like this: ()?

Forgive me if it's a stupid question, or if I'm missing something obvious. I've just always wondered that

Now I understand you still use an old template....you should use IORR Emerald Template 1.0 in "My Control Settings"
