The best part of "Don't Stop"?

...are the last 90 seconds?

I admit I fell for this song...catchy and barely floats above water for the 4 minutes it chugs along. Time and time again I look forward to my most favorite parts of the song:

the intro
Ronnie's solo
the outro (some great guitars climbing and climbing...unfortunately never reaching a zenith but flirts around a promise of something promising. It reaches some level of satisfaction but it fades out before it gets anywhere...)

Anyone else enjoy these or any other aspects of this song...if they like this song at all? lol....

I actually like Mick's vocals although it reminds of one of his solo efforts

I like it too...Nice little rock and roll number...In fact i like the other 2 new tracks from 40 licks as well...
I can't say the same thing about Keith's song..

reg thorpe - because it was originally a Mick solo composition, he just later decided to give it to the rest of the band... x)

the song is simple, nothing great, will not go down in history of art, but I like it a lot x) catchy and rocking.

When a band has been around 50 years, you're bound to have some turkeys, and this was a big gobbler. I'd put it up there with their early embarrassing attempts like 'Under The Boardwalk'. Of course them covering 'Like A Rolling Stone' was pretty bad too. New thread!

Not worth buying a greatest hits album for.

I think it is a fine Stones song.... but to each his/her own... as usual

EDIT-Granted it is pretty fluffy, non serious, non threatening, feel good, driving around on a sunny day with the top down music.... which is not a bad thing

Never understood why people dislike Don't Stop. I liked it immediately. Updated Brown Sugar - that's okay with me - I love Brown Sugar.

That's funny. I have a better answer: I don't think I made it through to the end. Not bad, just nothing that stood out. Sounds like filler, lazy filler.

Yes, you are quite correct. There is nothing to hate about the actual song. It's a toe-tapper.

It just sounds totally lazy. The Stones 'Paint By Numbers'.

Crikey, tough crowd. I love "Don't Stop" - Jagger's vocals are passionate. It's not a chugger, it's a rocker! Nasty groove there. And anyone who's ever been in a painful relationship but can't seem to get out can relate.

It's not a bad song, I don't mind it.

The track is definitely harmless which is probably why the song gets a beating from fans. Fortunately for the track, it has just enough charm to sustain a person's attention. Again, it's not earth-shattering--it's passable.

It's a good little sleazy and slinky gem!

Love Ron's work on this one!

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

It has been a song that I also saw as filler. When they would play it on tour I wondered if anyone really thought, "I hope they play Don't Stop".

Funny, though, how that Claire_M talked about the lyrics. For me, and I can only speak for myself, the lyrics have never held any interest for me for the greater majority of their songs. It is all about the music, the beat, the riffs, the musical texture. The lyrics have always been incidental. But I know that for some they lyrical content is just as important as the music. Granted, they have written some unforgettable lyrics, and Mick's vocals are unmatched. But the meaning of a song, what is behind the words, has, overall, never been important to me.

I didnt know that Amused; nice tid-bit of information. What other songs were solo's that Mick or Keef gave to the rest of the band?

Great foot/hand tapping music.

But, yes the end is the best, love the fade...

Dont EVER Stop...

If you haven't tried ramming a stick in your eye or ear, you should. It can be quite invigorating!

At least it's a catchy song. Unlike all the generic "rockers" the Stones have been churning out since Voodoo Lounge...Rough Justice, Flip The Switch, etc. all sound the same.

Flip The Switch....really? I always thought that song was hugely different than the usual stuff we were getting. The musician in me automatically puts it in a different category because Keith is for once NOT using Open G on this song. The song is in E and the riff itself is quite original and out of the ordinary for Keith.
