Mick on the front cover of Esquire magazine
Posted by: stargroover ()

I was lucky to pick up a copy of the Jan/Feb edition of Esquire magazine today with a lovely pic of Mick on the front cover, taken by Jim Marshall in 1972.Mick is wearing a green and white T shirt with "Palace" written on.I think the full slogan is "Palace Laundry ".

The magazine has an article featuring "style heroes".The magazine has different editions featuring Bowie,Ferry and Lydon on the front cover.Oh,and Cobain too....not sure why he is featured though?

Inside the magazine there is a short article by Mark Ellen on Mick with several pics,

Very cool! Not surprising that they would include Mick as a style hero, but the choice of cover shot is surprising....love that pic, but he looks pretty average there in his tee shirt.

Wow! The writer beautifully captures the essence of Mick Jagger's style. Thanks, Deltics and stargroover.

Actually, in their own very different way, Charlie Keith and Ronnie are style icons to a degree.
Mick gets the focus because of his higher public profile.
None of the Beatles or other contempories come close. Bowie, perhaps.

Awesome! Mick - circi 1968-1981 - remains the very definition of Rock Star.

Mick in his Palace Laundry shirt!

I happen to know he purchased that shirt in a used clothing store in Isla Vista, California in 1969 or 1970.

I love shoes like this. Does this style have a name?

Yes, MingSubu. They are called "saddle shoes" and are made in black and white or cream, or brown and white, or in this case, even navy.

Thanks angee!!!

I think my favorite color are the brown and white. I'm off work tomorrow, for a teeth cleaning. I may have to do some shopping.

Back on topic, though I prefer Keith's style, Mick has looked pretty cool throughout the years. He looks pretty badass in this pic.

Also referred to as "be-bops" or "saddle oxfords".

When I was in elementary school, I had a few pairs. Anybody remember the bluish/cream ones. This was the early 70s, and I was a tomboy so it must have been the only alternative for me.
