Mick Jagger hosting SNL repeat tonight

For those of you in the States, NBC is having a new two hour special on SNL at 8PM, followed by a re-airing of Mick's hosting job in 2012 at 10PM. This is to hype SNL's season opener tonight at 11:30PM, with Miley Cyrus.

Thanks 24, Mick was great in that show. I'm gonna set the DVRsmileys with beer.

I hope they don't cut any of the songs Mick did that night. I think he played with Foo Fighters? Early classic Stones songs.

I don't think I want to visit the Finger Lakes.

On SNL May 2012 Mick did "The Last Time" with Jeff Beck, Arcade Fire and "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "IORR" with Foo Fighters, then at the after party in front of the gold statue of Mercury in the Rockefeller Center ice rink Mick and Dave Grohl and others did "Bitch" and "Miss You". I hope Keith plays SNL even if he doesn't tour. How hard would it be to get Waddy and Steve together and do two songs?

Miley Cyrus was excellent on the season opener. She had the Flaming Lips (unheralded) as her back up band. Am watching now & the first song she did was awesome. I like her voice & she is daring to find her own path. The album she gave away online is too long but very good. Very spacey.

Miley Cyrus has a better voice than Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, in my opinion.

I just went through it after taping it and wish they'd cut Weekend Update instead. I was looking forward to "19th" more than anything.

Missed Mick re-run. Enjoyed it the first time around.

Thought Miley was ok as an actress and ok as a performer, but much of SNL's writing and acting/comedy of the sketches themselves seemed dull, lame, and/or histrionic. The whole entre-nous-breaking-the-4th-wall-smirking-instead-of-staying-in-character wheeze is getting a bit old, for me.

"SNL by numbers" perhaps?

:-)

No.
Mick performed a blues number with Jeff Beck titled "Tea Party"

I'm burning out on the Broadway type musical numbers (with the exception of Miley in the Grease one). It's an archaic form & if you don't live in NYC or London it just doesn't resonate.

I'm not one of the cheerleaders of the "original cast was way better - hasn't been the same since" bandwagon (well maybe a little), but the show is just not that funny anymore.
I thought the Hilary skit was kind of funny - and I'm not even a fan of hers, but the show put me to sleep shortly after that.

Cold open was funny. Good impression of Donald Trump.

I'll catch the re-run in a few years.

Hopefully, by then people will be saying "Donald who?"

You're right, Jeff Beck played on Tea Party. I completely forgot about that Mitt Romney song. I wonder if Mick will write a Trump song.
