Is your psychiatrist interested in yours Stones’ anecdotes?

Mine is.

Every time I come back from a tour, I tell it how insane the price of the ticket are, what crazy things we may do to go to a theatre show, and how juicy is the second market. Guys, he loves it. It costes me a lot of bucks since 1991 to tell him about the Stones stories.

Not sure however how it fits it the analysis.

I went to an internist once with my Glimmer Twins 1978 tshirt on
He was double-booked, running about an hour late and his waiting room was packed with irate patients
and when he saw my shirt ... well you know what kind of eyes he got :E
After about half an hour of avid discussion I pointed out that there were people waiting
and he said "who cares!" and kept on talking about the Rolling Stones.
It was fun, and I've shared a few magazines and so on with him, but I don't seek him out when I'm sick.

Shrinks would have a field day anaylyzing some of these threads.
Especially the Anita's friend thread.

The Stones are my mental health professionals. I'm not sure how interested they are in my personal anecdotes, but they are happy to take my money just the same. smoking smiley

Of course, a shrink is... if it makes sense on the couch (I rather prefer a chair)

Are you saying you have been seeing the same psychiatrist since 1991? Nearly 25 years? Talk about unhealthy dependency! FYI, one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get different results.

Thank you for your blessing; we will all need it in the coming deluge.

But seriously, surely the Law of Diminishing Returns started to apply, oh, about 23 years ago. I was appalled that Tony Soprano stayed with Dr Melfi for 7 years with no improvement in his panic disorder.

Frankly, if all you are getting is friendship and support, it's time to move on and get some real help. A good therapist gets good results, which by definition is a client who functions well - independently. Two years should be adequate for all but the most seriously disordered and dysfunctional people. After that, it is unlikely that the therapist could offer much more. And an ethical therapist would not continue past that point.

Did Tony actually have sex with her? No. It was just an odd friendship and that's it.

I know several therapists. Most of them go into the profession because they have serious issues themselves, grew up in dysfunctional families, etc...my sister is a psychologist and she's as looney as they come. They can help sometimes in the short term, the best ones help you to see that you're not crazy...it's the rest of the world. winking smiley

Of course, that actually is not any definition of insanity. Instead, that is an Albert Einstein quote. He had many quotes, none of which are definitions of words.

The actual definition of insanity is:

the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.

Pet peeve...

I'm hearing you... But let me re-phrase...Step one, therapy, is (sort of) over for many years… I use my psychiatrist not so much as a therapist than as a coach… He is good at that, a bunch of his customers are corporate people sent by companies to face challenges, downsizing or pink slip… So, well it is a coach with a psychiatrist resume… Sometimes, it worth paying someone from outside six times a year to advise you on better moves…

Being one myself, I would have loved to hear anything ´bout the Stones from my patients, but they just kept on talking `bout themselves and their boring relatives and disgusting husbands and wives and their absolutely crazy parents and their hare-brained kids and and ...

Maybe that´s why I switched on administration and left patients behind?

At $175/hr+ both attorneys and psychologists have a bit too much incentive not to settle the case or solve the problems. The conflict of interest starts the minute you walk in the door. lol

If i ever got talking to a shrink he would have enough material for an entire conference lol
Its funny for me listening to all you Stones fans, because most of you sound very sane indeed, but the fact that we all talk on a daily basis about a rock band non stop kind of proves we are all nuts lol
What amazes me is how impersonal you all are, you give away nothing of yourselves on a personal level and your conversations rarely goes outside planet Stones
Nothing wrong with that, as this is a Stones fan forum, but oh man you guys are uptight winking smiley

I remember a Rolling Stones' TMQ record designed by William Stout. Not the cover, but a sheet inside - comics like

A guy talking to his shrink saying he was dying to get the copie n°15,000 of such bootleg.... Captured the spirit of the day among collectors..

I cannot find it...
