Karl & Darryl - Taking it to the Be Bop

In Milwaukee I noticed a definite shift in Darryl's playing - during Miss You he really started going to the jazzier edgier side, and it was amplified by a solo from Karl in a jazz mode rather than the familiar bluesy direction. It threw me for a minute, I think it threw Mick for a second too... but then it opened up into a new jam!

Charlie, Daryl, Tim, Lisa & Karl, and all the cats... a big jazz vernacular they share.

The Stones are transitioning to their second career as a jazz band, at which point they'll release a new album...

Thanks, well thats a different thing entirely then.
Did you notice that shift in the Miss You solo, erikjjf?

Darryl is getting a nice space to strut now too. He is owning it.

<<The Stones are transitioning to their second career as a jazz band>>

That's only so Charlie will remain interested, and be more keen to tour more often.

they have jazz chops. they wouldn't play in those modes if it didn't fit, though.

they can move the music toward something like jazz occasionally on certain songs..

but it wouldn't work on most of them.
