Escher artwork for Stones Album?

I was reading this article from the Guardian about the artist Escher, and was struck by this sentence:

he was courted unsuccessfully by Mick Jagger for an album cover

Anyone know anything about this? Could been pretty cool. Judging by the article it could have been the late 60s.

Also a funny bit about Jagger's faux pas that offended the artist.

Seems Mr. Escher was cranky that day. This would have made an interesting cover.
In the end the final cover turned out fine. However, it is interesting the shape
stayed the same as Mick's initial vision with the Escher cover. Excuse me...Mr. Escher cover.

In many respects this thread could be merged with this one as both of them concern Mr. Jagger contacting well known artists about designing the cover for the band's second hits album.

How many people in the history of the world have turned down an invitation (of any type) by Mick Jagger. When I heard about this a while back it actually made Escher seem cooler to me than he already was.

Overheard no where- Mick Jagger called and wanted to have dinner and drinks but I told him I was busy doing laundry or something that night and to try me again next time he comes through town.
