ok -- this is pretty random -- but I've thought from time to time how in the '60s the whole idea of "monkey" was more prevalent than it is today. People in ape suits as comedic trope, songs like Monkey Man and "Everybody's..." as well as expressions like "don't monkey with it," "monkeying around," "more fun than a barrel for of monkeys," dance called "The Monkey," the group "The Monkees," game Barrel Full of monkeys, chimps on TV shows. (ps - for the stickler nerds, I know chimps are apes and apes aren't monkeys)
So, it seemed monkeys were in the zeitgeist for a minute there. Why? Maybe someone more conscious and aware than I during the 1960s would have a clue.
I've been thinking about this for years (I just realized), but never had occasion to wonder "out loud" about it

I always thought monkey was another term for heroine. Didn't know if that had anything to do with either one them.
