Ron Wood guitar part on Tumbling Dice...

Man, it's driving me nuts, and it's probably the simplest thing.
What's he playing at the end of each line on the verses?
So if it's in B (B-E-F#), the lick on the F# right after, say,
"Fever in the funk house now."
It's not a two-string Berry riff. It's not a hammer-on. ?

Mick T used to play the bottom strings in this part, movin up (a bit like the brass does) but I Think Ronnie uses his b-bender to get the part you are lookin for.

I was just listening to the Brussel's version of Tumbling Dice. I don't think there has ever been a better version. I would love to her MT play on that once more.

I'd go a step further and suggest that that performance was the band's greatest moment on stage. Unfortunately that band no longer exists. Someone made a thoughtful post about the role of Taylor as compared with the role of Wood in the band. I think in some measure it was a fair assessment of the issue. But I would take Taylor's occasional incongruities for sublime moments such as this. Brussels' TD still thrills me 40+ years later. It stands the test of time.

I do wish that Ron would ditch the b-bender.... It sounds horrible!

Best version is Brussells, hands down.

Indeed, it was great and that band doesn't exists anymore.
But please keep in mind that the boys were hardly 30 years old, at that time.

The drive, the speed, the enthousiasm....you can't keep that up for a lifetime.

I'm only 51, but I can't keep up the speed of life which I had when I was 30 !

Rick James explained it well : "Cocaine is a hell of a drug".

Good point rolling and I think a lot of those posting here should think of that before they type. Who'm in their 50's-60's has the same zest for anything they had years earlier?
