With the European Stones tour imminent, it’s time for a good old Stones Fan meeting.
6 days before the Stones land on Dutch soil to play the legendary Pinkpop festival, there will be a huge pre party in probably the biggest rock café in the Netherlands; Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht 11AM – 5PM.

There will be two live acts playing, both doing two sets.
First on stage will be Spider & the Fly. From their website: “This semi-acoustic blues duo brings the Stones' repertoire of the world's Greatest Rock & Roll Band back to basics with two guitars and two voices.
During their shows mega-hits such as Satisfaction, Honky Tonk Women and Brown Sugar are mixed with less well-known gems and blues songs of the past five decades.
Like the Rolling Stones, both musicians have a blues background. Therefore their duo is logically named after a bluesy Jagger and Richards composition.
Singer-guitarist Cleanhead John is Stonesfan with heart and soul, when 16 years of age traveled to London to meet Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. At a later age he toured from Amsterdam to Athens with various blues bands.
Guitarist-singer Arjan de Bruijn also plays in McAnthony's Blues Gang and with this band has been a support act for the Mick Taylor Band.

Spider & The Fly released their Tribute-cd "In A Stoney Web" in 2012, with 16 Stones covers and an Ode For Brian Jones, the Stones guitarist who tragically drowned in his swimming pool in 1969.
A performance by the duo The Spider & The Fly is a feast of recognition.
Besides music, the audience is also treated to a musical Stones-quiz.

After the Spider & the Fly the stage will be occupied by Undercover, the renowned Rolling Stones tribute band. These guys really know how to throw in a party! A few lines from their website: “Undercover is a real live band. As pure and raw as the Stones themselves. Undercover has a singer performing as energetic as Mick Jagger, without wanting to be an exact copy, Keith’s legendary riffs are being played in authentic tuning. Because of the current European tour, there will be a physical bulletin board for the Rolling Stones 14 On Fire Tour. This is a place where fans can put up messages during the day offering or looking for concert tickets, sharing cars to concerts, want to share a hotel room, or want to meet before one of the European shows etc. The bulletin board is for fans only, so no profit making (!) and it is only meant for items related to the Rolling Stones 14 on Fire tour (both Europe and Australia/New Zealand).

There will be a big Stones merchandise shop and during the day there will be live footage from various Stones shows on a big screen.

Rolling Stones pre party in Stairway to Heaven

Met een mooie nieuwe Europese tour aanstaande kan een oude vertrouwde Stones fan meeting natuurlijk niet uitblijven.
Zes dagen voor het aangekondigde Stones optreden op ons eigen Nederlandse Pinkpop, beginnen we alvast aan een grote pre party!

1 Juni 2014 in Stairway to Heaven te Utrecht. 11.00 - 17.00

Er zal o.a. zo’n 4 uur live muziek te zien en horen zijn, beginnend met 2 sets van het semi-akoestische Stones blues-duo Spider & the Fly , volgens hun website brengt zij het repertoire van ’s werelds Greatest Rock & Roll Band terug naar de essentie met 2 gitaren en 2 stemmen. Tijdens een optreden worden megahits als Satisfaction, Honky Tonk Women en Brown Sugar afgewisseld met minder bekende pareltjes en bluesnummers van de afgelopen vijf decennia. Beide muzikanten hebben, net als the Rolling Stones, een blues achtergrond en hebben hun duo logischerwijs genoemd naar een bluesy Jagger & Richards compositie. Zanger-gitarist Cleanhead John is al jarenlang met hart en ziel Stonesfan, reisde op 16-jarige leeftijd naar Londen om Mick Jagger en Keith Richards te ontmoeten en toerde op latere leeftijd met diverse bluesbands van Amsterdam tot Athene. Daarna zal het sfeervolle podium van Stairway 2 sets bevolkt worden door de welbekende Stones tribute band Undercover. Undercover zal een spetterend optreden verzorgen, deze jongens hebben vaak laten zien en horen dat ze een geweldige performance kunnen neerzetten. Vanwege de lopende Europese tour zal er een Rolling Stones 14 On Fire Tour prikbord zijn waar fans gedurende de dag berichtjes kunnen achterlaten voor mede fans die nog een concertkaart zoeken of over hebben, gezamelijk naar een concert willen reizen, auto delen, hotelkamer delen of willen afspreken voor/bij een concert etc. Randvoorwaarden zijn dat er geen winstoogmerk is en dat de oproepjes gerelateerd zijn aan de 14 On Fire tour.

Verder zal er een grote Stones merchandise stand zijn en worden op een groot scherm Stones live concerten e.d. vertoond

4 days to go. next sunday BIG stonesfanday in stairway in utrecht. Iedere 50ste bezoeker ontvangt 2 vrijkaarten voor stones tentoonstelling in musee scheveningen die de komende maanden wordt gehouden. Een tentoonstelling met mooie fotos en originele posters van beruchte optreden kurhaus 1964. Voor verdere info zie musee scheveningen.
