Rolling Stones not on the list. Must mean no one can afford them.

How much do they charge?

I thought that seemed really high too. On the other hand, Pearl Jam seems like a bargain at 300-500K.

makes a stones pit ticket like an extreme bargain by comparison.

75K for a private show with BB King. Who wants to pitch in?

Not on the list probably because you wouldn't be hiring a band per se, but a company. They never travel anywhere without their entourage, including bodyguards, which also includes individual limos and gas (you don't mind if they park on your lawn, do you?). Also, roadies and trucks and all the union wages (got some room in your garage for those trucks?). Don't forget the slew of individual chefs and the gourmet meals they would be cooking (you don't really expect them to eat your crappy supermarket fare do you? Keith needs a real shepard's pie!).

Oh, and the most important reason why no one would want to hire them for a private gig would be the clean-up after they leave. Don't forget, they piss anywhere, man!

think you hit the nail on the head....spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
will take Sweet Baby James for $1 mil....when he opens the summer Tanglewood series in the Berkshires, Mass., he literally stops traffic (from Stockbridge to Boston) and graciously accommodates to open the show late. cool smiley

Wasn't it like 5 mil and they had to be on tour and in the area?

How much do they charge?

No U2 either

...as far as I can tell: that list is only-USA-acts.

Is that before he scalps tickets to his own show?

I'm only saying this half in jest, but I think the way it works is that the Rolling Stones basically call you up and tell you they are coming, tell you how much they want, and you pay them. Similar to the concert promotion equivalent of "If you have to ask, you already can't afford it" when buying a yacht, luxury car, fur coat, jewelry, etc.

Funniest comment I've seen about this list was someone on another message board, who suggested booking the Dave Matthews Band for $1 MIL, with the Dave Matthews tribute cover band opening the show, for $5K.

Interesting that Rob Thomas Solo is $100-200k while his entire band, Matchbox 20 is $150-250k... So much for being equals in the band. I wonder if the rest of the band would show up without him for $50k?

Peace,
Mr DJA

He'll do it for less if you provide him 'tour coffee' for free.

Well Dave Matthews is South African, Susan Boyle and Madonna are obviously English (you can tell by the accent), Robin Thicke's half Canadian, Nickleback (sadly) IS Canadian, Rihanna's Dominican (or something like that), Drake is Canadian, Bieber is Canadian (sorry about this everyone, we have a lot to explain for), Arcade Fire is Canadian (OK, that's a bit better), Alanis Morrisette - Canadian...

Actually, this is more like a list of Canadians with a few Brits and 'Mericans thrown in to round it out!

...and Bruno Mars, now he's Hawaiian...is Hawaii a state yet?
