Emotional Rescue - Live debut Los Angeles - May, 3rd 2013

That event deserves it's own thread right? Is it possibly the biggest gap [NO : 40 years for "As Tears Go By" as pointed out below by franzk, second then?) between a release and a first time live with nearly 33 years, 32 years, 10 months, 13 days to be exact (20 June 1980 for the single per Wikipedia)

New video on YouTube by prestoff2000, much better, both pictures and sound, fabulous falsetto! Who still does that now that Marvin and especially Curtis are gone?

Found this so far : [www.youtube.com]

The sound is not great as you can't hear the guitars very clearly, but it seems like it really went down well, Mick's falsetto is out of this world! He even dared the "Shining Armor" part at 4'38" !!!

Must say the old geezer(s) always have a trick up their sleeves to make things exciting, ok, now to read the reviews of those who were there.

Not even close. As Tears Go By was premiered live in 2005 after around 40 years since the release.

A nice surprise. Made me thinking. .. it was a top ten hit back at the day (and I think their only A-side with "We Love You" they never had played before live), so why they didn't play it during 1981/82 tour, when it was still rather fresh hit? Too "dance song" for the rock and roll flavor of the tour? Keith hated it?

Anyways, it might have sounded awkward back then... just thinking they running through it high-speed with the lead of "ancient art of weaving", and Jagger having his coked up horse-sound..... it would have been priceless!>grinning smiley<

Now it sounded "normal" - very close to the original recording. And I think sounded okay by its own terms. Me likes.

Hmmm... what else? Well, Gazza will have something to add into his (wonderful) set lists pages in his site after tour...

A nice feature is also that - according to some report - it was received well by the audience. That's always a good thing to hear that "obscure" songs work by that criterion. Right, Mick?

Mick didn't do his Barry White impression at the end.

"Yes.. you will be mine".

Darryl Jones is the greatest thing since sliced bread...and easily the second most important Jones ever to be a Stone...

He always steps up to give a solid performance, quite a likeable guy, Keith is right Darryl doesn't get enough recognition...but more importantly, of a greater concern, neither does Bill.

Great song, brings back memories from 1980. They really should have toured after the Emotional Rescue lp, which was very succesful around the world. The songs on that album would have been better known. Now bring on Summer Romance, Down in the Hole and Where the Boys Go!

Pete.

leave it to the stones to figure out a way to incorporate ER into the set WITHOUT dropping second-cousin Miss You in favor of it.....

Missing that call-and-response-thing between sax and guitar at the end...one of the song's best features. Have Bobby and Ronnie forgotten it?

Really? Try to provide some backup if you're going to make that kind of sweeping statement.

The falsetto was fantastic and the crowd was apparently happy, sounds like a good start to me.

Yeah, if only for the fantastic falsetto! Who still does that now that Marvin and especially Curtis are gone?
