3 days ago I saw this shot for the very first time :



As some of you may know, it's from the famous and awesome concert at Royal Albert Hall (February 24th, 1969) taken by Eric Hayes.

Only the lucky fans who have the bootleg movie knew this young kid came onstage to have a very quick chat with Jimi !



I always wonder who the kid was !!! I only found his name yesterday in a Jimi Hendrix forum and I discovered by surprise that the Stones fans knew him and his family : his brother (Jake) and their late parents (Tommy Weber and Susan 'Puss" Coriat).

Yep that's him who carried the stuff with his old brother Jake as present for Mick's wedding and Keith personal use...

I've found Charley who didn't know nothing about the photo and never watched the bootleg movie of the concert. Here is what he wrote to me today :

"This is incredible. Of course I remember it but it was only because we'd met Jimi backstage and he'd picked me up, cool as could be and carried me around on his shoulders, so he was like a friend to a little boy, me. I don't remember if I said anything. I think he was a little surprised at coming on the stage and he just said 'Cool, groovy Charley'. You have the photo. This is too frickin out there. I'm like, in shock. Blasted me. This is extremely cool. Frickin out of town, baby:-) you made an incredibly happy big kid awed in the true sense of the word nice one. thank you. This is great."

No, it's not Jagger.

It appears to be another Mick though, that being Mick Weaver aka Wynder K Frog of  Mason, Capaldi, Wood and Frog’ who were one of the support bands for that concert. Dave Mason, wearing a hat, is to his left.

Hendrix is amazing. This morning on radio nova I hear a great instrumental guitar. Who is playing ? I shazamed and it was "strato strut"

I gave this great jam to Radio Nova years ago when I was invited to talk about Jimi and they kept playing the tune since ! It's from the collector CD "Morning Symphonies Ideas" (2000, Dagger Records/Experience Hendrix).

You're right but band Mason, Capaldi, Wood & Frog was the support band for the earlier show on February 18 (with The Soft Machine). On the 24, it was Van De Graaf Generator and Fat Mattress.

Ignore my identification, I had an earlier photo of Mason looking much the same in mind, but that's from 1968. Probably isn't Mick Weaver beside him either then.

Once you see the movie (the look-a-like is seen for 6 seconds), you will realise (unfortunately) it's not Your Mick !

That's an awesome photo. Little kid walking around onstage while Jimi is jamming away. I don't know who is luckier, that little boy or the German Shepherd walking around the stage at Altamont.
