Very sad to see such a big talent pass. A very funny Chicago guy as an actor and he did great works also as a writer, and director. I met him once at a benefit down at the Field Museum 3-4 years ago and he was witty and friendly. He and Bill Murray were fantastic together in Stripes, one of my alltime favorite movies. Looking for solid laughs, watch Stripes and appreciate some of the comic genius on display there.

RIP Harold.

Remember him mostly from the early days of SCTV along with John Candy, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin and Catherine O'Hara, what a team, my favourite character of his was "Moe Green" anybody recall that?

RIP Harold
"Too soon gone."

Truly sad to loose such a comic great and an all around nice guy, something rare in Hollywood. I watched a couple "making of" documentaries of his movies and the actors had nothing but good things to say about him and how he worked. An actors director. Some of his quotes tell the kind of person he was:

My job is to come up with something that you like and you agree with that you would play wholeheartedly. If we disagree, I may not be doing my job correctly

Nothing reinforces a professional relationship more than enjoying success with someone.

My characters aren't losers. They're rebels. They win by their refusal to play by everyone else's rules.

No matter what I have to say, I'm still trying to say it in comedic form.

You just make sure you don't screw it up. It's going to work as long as you don't mess it up. Hopefully you have plenty of those moments in a big comedy.

.............

Going to have to sit down and pull out some of his films tonight. Then again I can most likely channel surf and find 1 or 2.

very sad...a very accomplished entertainer.

Looking through that career synopsis is impressive, but he will always be one of the guys on SCTV for me.
