Brian, Anita and the monkeys

In 1967, the Rolling Stones' guitarist, accompanied by Anita Pallenberg and Marianne Faithfull – all on LSD – visited the colony in Gibraltar en route to meet the rest of the band in Morocco. According to Faithfull's autobiography, Jones decided he wanted to play a tape of music he had made for a film starring Pallenberg to the monkeys. "We approached the troop of monkeys very ceremoniously," she writes, "and told them we were going to play them some wonderful sounds. They listened to all this very attentively, but when Brian turned on the tape recorder, they didn't seem to care for it. They seemed alarmed by it and scampered away shrieking. Brian got very upset. He took it personally. He became hysterical and started sobbing."

Speaking of Gibraltar, is that true the Stones played there without Charlie? Any pictures?

He should've chased them down and continued playing the music...just for the sake of revenge.

They may have caught up with Mickey Dolenz, but Mike Nesmith was known to be quite elusive.

According to Faithfull's autobiography...

This is where the article lost all credibility.

Don't forget they were taking LSD, which can really be a mood swinger if suddenly something unexpected happens.

If those monkeys didn't like Brian's music even when on LSD, they surely would have disliked it sober. Tough crowd.

I think they didn't see eye to eye with Brian on the discs he was cutting.

Didn't this incident happen when Keith would up making Anita in the Blue Bentley after Brian wound up in hospital? Blew the lid off their affair. Didn't recall Marianne's presence...smiling bouncing smiley

This is after Brian had fallen ill, Keith and Anita bonked, they arrived in Morocco and bonked some more.

Anita went to get Brian, returned to UK with him, he got further check ups etc, then they returned to Morocco. This incident happened during that journey to Morocco.

There are some photos from the start of this journey showing Brian, Anita, Marianne and some guy who's name I forget at Heathrow airport.
