Very important guy in the history of the UK counter culture movement. His band The Deviants pre-dated The Stooges and MC5. This is from their 1967 album Ptoof! Echoes of the Stones Going Home too.

He wrote some really interesting sci fi/horror books too. RIP.

RIP Mick, an indelible part of my '60s. Seems only appropriate that his death should be associated with a live performance, but I remember him even more for his IT (International Times, the underground newspaper) articles, which I used to read obsessively. We have a mutual friend who reminds me he was very much a social activist, too (not just in the '60s).

He's quoted a lot in the HP '69 article on this page.

Well, he's not around to annoy you any more, then, is he?

Pioneer of the Ladbroke Grove rock scene, along with Edgar Broughton Band and early Hawkwind. No Deviants, possibly no Clash.

He spent about 30 years here in Los Angeles, leaving in 2010 because he didn't want to die in the U.S. Those of you familiar with Farren will like to know his passing is being lamented here as well.

I loved the DNA Cowboy series & the vampire series he did. Found the books before I found the music. The man could drink with Lemmy!

Jesus, I've drunk with Lemmy when I was about 20. Mind you it was only a pint of shandy!

Me too, about that age! Was at a club gig for Girlschool when he was going out with one of them. Good times although a little fuzzy. haha.
