Hello,

Steve Winwood is such a talent that whenever he is out and about I will try to go and see him. Last night at a packed Lyric Theatre e delighted again with terrific vocals (really, no-one else sounds like him still), guitar solos that amazed, in terms of what he played and the actual sound. Oh, he's still quite handy on the keys too!

His band were as accomplished as you'd hoped they would be: they kept the material familiar but just interesting enough for them in terms of any improvisation. Steve knows his audience and we did get all his old and much loved chestnuts/warhorses, hah-hah! Recommended? Hell yeah!

What was the set list Simon? I saw him several times in the early 2000s and he tended to play much the same set with a lot of muso jamming so I got a bit bored. The last time I saw him was about 5 years ago and he dropped in a few Spencer Davis numbers and a couple of Traffic oddities which was great. He alwatys does a great version of Mr Fantasy and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.

I wish he'd do more off the Mr Fantasy and Traffic albums plus singles like Paper Sun and Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush.

Great set list. Plenty of material from Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys which is such a great album. Hopefull he'll play some for his acoustic show at Glasto. I'd love to hear him do Rainmaker but I don't want it to bring on the rain. ><

That's a shocker. Excellent, hah-hah! S.W.'s guitar was just so, so fine...as per, I guess.
Gotta say that I envy you with the photo-pass for Glasto...Gawd knows how many SD cards I'd fill with rubbish! It'll be some weekend!
