OT - Talk with Todd Rundgren

some Stones history for Todd - they played together at Knebworth, '76 - on the bill anyway. And the Stones rehearsed at Todd's studio for the '78 tour. And Mick slept with Bebe Buell, Todd's longtime girlfriend!

A friend of mine used to say that it does one no good at all to be "ahead of your time," and in many ways that's true for Todd Rundgren. He's been so far in front of the pack for so long now...and after all these years most artists haven't even gotten to the point where he began.

How does a guy like that find acceptance from a mass audience?

The most overused word in pop music is "genius." However it's no exaggeration to call Todd Rundgren that.

Great clip. Thanks.

Most people [mainstream listeners] know his hit Hello It's Me from the 70s. What they don't know is that it took a few years for the song to be a hit.

I would be willing to see him in concert, but only if he opened with, closed with, and in the middle had a 30 minute version of Hello It's Me.

I had that Nazz album. Great early version, but I actually prefer the poppier AM version. It just sounds like 1973.

listen at about :04 in the intro- as i pointed ou to Todd and moogy before he died - (the keyboard player who says it) you hear moogy say "if anyone @#$%& up just keep playing"

it was a live and EXPENSIVE sunday studio session - no charts and a lotta improv - the meter was running

Let's not forget Todd has NEW music coming out April 9, 2013. It's called "State" and you can buy it directly from Todd at http://www.toddstore.com/

He is touring also. I have tickets for the Rex Theater in Pittsburgh!
