As far as I'm aware, the Sweet Black Angel on this collection is an instrumental featuring Earl Hooker on slide. It's based on the same melody as Sweet Little Angel - the B.B. King favourite - and is a completely different tune from the Stones track of the same name so, unfortunately, we don't get Muddy covering the Stones.

The Stones took HIS song as a reference. Not the other way around.....

by the way, i never mentioned Muddy covered the Stones. this could never be. Muddy is a hero of the Stones, not the other way around.

Electric Mud was a great album: After The Rain less so.

I love Tom Cat, and I also love Pete Cosey's effects on the album.

Nothing weird about listening to the GREAT Muddy Waters. I feel the same way about Ray Charles in the Sixties.

I was fortunate to have seen and heard all the great music of the Sixties and early 70s.

I feel very sad for anyone who never got to see Hendrix in live performance although he would have told you that "Woodstock" was not a gig he was particularly proud of.

Yes, in fact it is a great album.

Not a substitute for the earlier stuff, but vastly underappreciated nonetheless. It offended the purer-than-thou "blues scholar" crowd.

Was blasting Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea today. What a beast that record is...
