hi Bay Area peeps - this is happening next week at the Haight Ashbury Library.
I'll be there - if anyone wants to meet b4/after for a bite or spot of joe or refreshing bev, let me know!
- swiss
Full Announcement from San Francisco Public Library:
On January 12, 1963, Charlie Watts played his first gig with the
Rolling Stones, finalizing the lineup that launched the band to
stardom second only to the Beatles. On Wednesday, January 16 from
6:30pm-8:30pm at the Park Branch of the San Francisco Library on 1833
Page Street, Richie Unterberger marks the 50th anniversary of that
occasion by presenting two hours of rare Rolling Stones film clips
from the 1960s and early 1970s, which marked the band's truly golden
decade. Admission is free.
Sounds interesting. I might just check that out swiss.Quote

Heads-up on the parking. Tight in that neighborhood so give yourself time if you're going and aren't familiar with parking in The Haight.

I'll try and be there (depends on how busy I am at work).
It's about a mile from where I live.

Cool! I've asked Richie Unterberger what he has in store, but haven't heard back yet.

hbwriter, you mean in terms of which clips?
My guess--between you and me, and all of iorr, and the internet--is for the casual fan,
the content will be "rare," and for fanatics and obsessives it will be familiar turf, tho
still really fun to watch in one sitting.
I'll find out & report back

Very chilly these days. Fireplace sounds good.Quote

Cool area - my fave eatery over there is Park Chow - maybe I'll go tonight, in fact, sit by the fireplace!

Swamped with work, so I can't make this one.
Have fun.
BTW, my wife and I are at the Little Shamrock Pub every Friday at 9 PM.
If anyone is in the area, stop on by. 9th Ave and Lincoln.

Ah well, let's hope you're not missing an EPIC film fest
So, your wife and you play at the Little Shamrock, or you're weekend denizens of the place?

Hey swiss. I was there. Sitting in the back. I think I was the only one who actually had on a Rolling Stones shirt. I looked for you,but with only a vague description to go on. Didn't want to start going up to every short blonde in the room........But the event was really cool. Great old clips. Never really seen much of the early Brian Jones footage. Good stuff.May have to go back for the British Invasion show he's doing in March.
