I really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting. World Cafe is only a few miles from me. I regret missing their performance. When was Charlie there?

I liked that, thanks for posting.
Kind of amazing what good musicians can do within the range of thee chords.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Nice, but the version from Watts at Scott's is so much better. In the drummerworld version I enjoy the Charlie groove, the other musicians are technically skilled, but they sound like any showband on the planet.

It's a bit like one of them old Jimmy Smith hammond jazz albums, which I love.

I like the Tim Ries jazz albums.

I also like Scofield, as he did Piety Street, a great album of bluesy gospel with Jon Cleary etc. That's What I Say, his tribute to Ray Charles, is also very good, and so too his work with Medeski, Martin & Wood.

Charlie seems to be having fun. There are more nuances to enjoy in his drumming when in jazz arrangements, as there are not the rote constraints of The Stones' more straight rock approach. I wouldn't mind a full album of jazzified Stones standards. I'd buy it, but I don't think it would happen.

Love Charlie. A full member Stone but unlike the others he can do this stuff, just enjoy playing with whoever, when ever, pretty much with no fanfare and he does. What a way to spend a time of life that is retirement for most people.
