When we first heard about this, we should have recognized it as a big time hint that the BIG TIME announcements were coming. This is perfectly timed to ride the hype wave, and is no coincidence.

And before the iphone says anything, I am not bashing on Jo Wood, I am just sayin we should have recognized it.

It will be interesting to see how much some of the items sell for. How much are people weillng to pay?

I AM bashing Jo Wood. I've lost any respect for her.
At best she was a C class model when she met Ronnie.

Sunday Telegraph:

As Wood celebrated the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary with a surprise concert in Paris, his ex-wife marked the collapse of their 24-year marriage in Los Angeles with a sale of some of his most personal belongings.

A year on from their divorce, prompted by the guitarist’s affair with Ekaterina Ivanova, a 20-year-old Russian waitress, his former wife Jo is selling an estimated £400,000 worth of possessions from Holmwood, the marital home they once shared in Surrey, at an auction in Los Angeles today.

The sale goes further than just disposing of the odd piece of memorabilia: it represents every aspect of their life together as a couple, and of Wood’s years as a musician, including many items from before their marriage.

The scale of it had already upset Wood, whose spokesman described him as “staggered” that his personal belongings were under offer - but that did not deter Mrs Wood from taking her revenge for the end of their marriage.

The sale at Julien’s Auctions, a Beverly Hills-based firm specialising in the sale of showbusiness memorabilia, got underway at 6pm today UK time.

The first lot, a pair of 19th Century, bronze continental chandeliers with a guide price of £2,400 to £3,700, sold for £2,300.

Next under the hammer was a 12-inch Venini Murano Fazoletto glass vase, a gift to Ronnie on his 50th birthday which sold for £120 - fare less than the guide price of £372 to £496.

But a group of vintage Middle Eastern swords, with an estimate of £248 to £372, fetched £931 and a framed painting by the 17th-century artist David Teniers, damaged after Ronnie accidentally left it in a sauna, reached £1,200. The guide price had been between £496 and £744.

And a red leather throne armchair, also a gift for Ronnie’s 50th, went for £1,400; the guide price was between £372 to £496. A set of spindle back chairs went for their minimum guide price of £931, while an antique oak farm table with a guide of £496 to £744 fetched £1,555.

A pair of the rock star's trademark black leather trousers went for £434 and his orange silk dress shirts made £1,400.

Other items due to be sold include the couple’s four-poster mahogany bed, estimated at £1,000, and the Indian carpet that once graced their bedroom floor.

A painted wooden rocking horse once played with by the couple’s two children, Leah and Tyrone, and which might have been expected to be passed on to their grandchildren, was also being auctioned with a price tag of £1,500.

The expensive toy was accompanied with a note from Mrs Wood that read: “We bought this for the kids when they were growing up.”

Also up for sale were Wood’s 1955 Fender Stratocaster guitar, valued at £37,000 and a Steingraeber & Sohne piano, expected to sell for £3,000, which came with the note: “Everyone has played this, from Ronnie to Mick Hucknall, Ian McLagan [of Wood’s former band the Faces], Mick Jagger [to] Keith Richards.”

Handwritten letters from Jagger, stage outfits worn by Wood on tour and cartoons drawn by John Lennon were among the lots, alongside jeans, jewellery and riding boots worn by Wood, 65, whose current girlfriend, Sally Humphreys, a theatre producer, is 34 - the same age as his daughter, Leah.

A leather coat which Ronnie wore in 2002 during the Licks Tour hit £4,036, vastly more than the £500-£800 guide.

Even a collection of four of his old, coloured vests made £155 while a pair of leather pants with a skull button detail and lined in silk, reached £1,552, more than triple the guide of £248-372.

And Ronnie's used, white, terrycloth bath robe raised £1,396.It was expected to fetch no more than £186.

The sale has angered Wood, who claims that many of the items are not his former wife’s to sell.

Ahead of the sale, his spokesman said: “Ronnie is shocked this auction is being misrepresented as a joint sale. This is not the case.

“He is staggered that some of the items being offered at the auction are clearly his personal belongings, which did not pass to Jo as part of the divorce proceedings.

“The tour clothes belong to the Rolling Stones and are not hers to sell. Ronnie feels saddened that Jo has taken this course of action and wants the public to know he has not teamed up with Jo on this outrageous sale.”

A nude portrait of Mrs Wood by her ex-husband, who is also a keen painter, was valued at up to £3,000. Another lot was a baby pink ESP 400 Series electric guitar, a gift from Wood to his former wife, inscribed on the neck with “Jo/Love Ronnie” which was expected to sell for £1,200.

The sale also included a selection of art works and antiques from the couple’s former home, including a 19th-century Erard harp estimated at £2,500, a bronze sculpture of a racehorse and jockey by Dame Elisabeth Frink expected to fetch up to £53,000 and other equestrian paintings by the British painters Richard Roper and Edwin Loder.

Diehard Rolling Stones fans could also buy a set of six cards that Wood once kept in his wallet, including a bank card emblazoned with the band’s famous tongue and lips logo and an AA Roadside Relay card, estimated at £500.

Mrs Wood’s spokesman said: “This is Jo’s auction, it includes all the items left to her following the divorce. She’s had everything in storage for three years and can’t keep it any longer. Ronnie has been kept in the loop of the sale.”

The couple met in 1977 and married eight years later. Mrs Wood, 57, who supported her husband through several stints in rehabilitation clinics for his alcohol addiction, is believed to have received a £6.5 million divorce settlement.

Mrs Wood was scathing about her husband in the aftermath of his affair. “You know something? Katia did me a favour,” she said. “I’d never have left Ronnie, but there were times when I was so unhappy. His drinking was far worse than anyone ever knew. The whole family covered up for him.

“It was like having another child in the house. We hardly ever went out because I knew he’d end up getting drunk and embarrassing everyone. Now, I can go out whenever I want and enjoy just being myself.”

Wood’s relationship with the 20 year-old did not last and he went on to have a brief relationship with the Brazilian, Ana Araujo, but is now living with Miss Humphreys.

Also up for sale was a baby pink ESP 400 Series electric guitar, a gift from Wood to his former wife, inscribed on the neck with “Jo/Love Ronnie” which was expected to sell for £1,200.

Mrs Wood said that she will donate some of the proceeds of the sale to MusicCares, a charity for musicians who can no longer work, with the remainder to their children.

Her ex-husband was keeping a low profile on Saturday - perhaps not best pleased at a disclosure by Rod Stewart that they had both taken cocaine in the form of a suppository in the 1970s.

The sale also included a handwritten note from Wood to Stewart. Written on a postcard from the Hotel George V in Paris, it reads: “Dearest Roderick /As stable as we English are - we never collided in a bar. Ronaldo.” It is unclear if Wood ever sent the note, which together with photocopies of two other letters written to Stewart, were estimated to fetch up to £500.

To mark their 50th anniversary, the Rolling Stones will play four concerts in London and New York in November and December, performances that are expected to reap them nearly £16 million, which would make the auction’s lots seem like small change.

Their fans, however, may differ as the band has attracted criticism for the high price of tickets, with some seats at London’s O2 Arena costing up to £406.

But Jagger has now defended the cost of the tickets in an interview with the BBC to be broadcast next month, saying: “I know it’s a lot, really. But there seems to be a demand and that’s good.”

Too bad, in between dating all those young things, Ronnie didn't go pack up the stuff he supposedly cared about. Had three years to do so.

In Ronnie's defence he probably didn't know the extent of belongings that had accumulated and Jo is probably hype-ing the whole thing to bring in some better $ to the table. They raised the value alot with the Ronnie name and personal stuff.

She will probably spend some of the proceeds on Ronnie and his children or even pay the storage fee's and split the profits of stuff that was obviously his (like the 55 strat). Jo has no use for a 55 strat and it looks like she is even auctioning the guitar Ronnie gave her. Ouch. peace

If Jo is holding the auction out of revenge for the collapse of their marriage, it probably has to do with the fact that Ron left her for a waitress. If it had been another model, Jo might not be so vindictive. Ron was clearly cheating below his station in life, and she duly took offense.

Anyone who blames only one person in a divorce, dealing with a long term marriage, is not thinking clearly. It takes two to tango and two to destroy a marriage... and Jo talking shit about Ronnie's personal issues out in public gives some insight to her.

I have never heard Ronnie quoted as talking dim about anyone, ever... but I sure read a lot of people talking shit about him... it is pathetic and uncalled for.

Ronnie Wood's Rolling Stones Memorabilia Sold at Auction

1955 Fender Stratocaster sold for $60,800;
cardboard cut out guitar goes for $6,875

By MIRIAM COLEMAN
October 28, 2012

A selection of memorabilia and artwork owned by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and his ex-wife, Jo Wood, went up for auction at a two-day sale over the weekend, Reuters reports.
The collection, presided over by Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, featured items spanning four decades of Wood's career in music, including clothing, instruments, and tour ephemera. Among the prizes were a 1955 Fender Stratocaster guitar that Wood played onstage, which sold for $60,800. A cardboard cutout of a guitar that Keith Richards had given to Wood sold for $6,875.
The auction also included a lithograph that Wood drew of Eric Clapton, signed by both Wood and Clapton, which sold for $5,120.
Ronnie and Jo Wood separated in 2008 after 23 years of marriage; Julien's said that the items were being sold as part of the divorce settlement, which was finalized in 2011. A portion of the auction's proceeds will go to the musicians' charity MusiCares.
