Does it really? I've never made that "connection".
You'd find greater similarities from that type of Beatles song if you listen to the first 2 albums by The Byrds. This one, for instance, sounds more like Spoil The Party...
I don't really hear any similarities. Obviously the music is nothing alike, so I'm assuming you mean the vocal melody, but I'm not really hearing that either. Could be though, I'm just not getting it.
What specifically is it you're hearing Elmo? If anything it borrows from Chuck Berry, but seeing as how the two songs are musically night and day, I'm assuming you mean something in the vocals, but I'm not hearing that. And I don't think it's the lyrical content.
Must be that step up that Elmo hears. "...there's nothing for me hear, so I will disappear.." versus "..there's dying to add me to their collection, and I don't know"
yeah, its the Harmonies that are very similar. "and I don't know if she'll let me go..". I hear it. I'd say its definitely possible Mick and or Keith heard this and it inspired connection.
