I had the same reaction, he really is an eccentric, in the best sense of the word.
Hiatt seemed either a little impatient or very guarded.
He's usually hilarious!
Probably not much of a scheduled interview, it was way too short! But, he seems to have become more guarded in later life, I remember him when he was drinking and funny doesn't begin to describe the man. You are right on there. peace
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him for quite a bit twice in the late 90's. He's a great, honest man who also happens to be a brilliant artist.
