Dylan's guitar technique when soloing...

A little off topic...but can any guitar players out there explain Dylan's guitar technique when he plays a gutiar solo.

Seems to me he buitlds up to a point & then kind on hangs on just one or two notes.

He makes its sound great in my book. Very identifyable.

Bob ripped the bottom 5 strings off his guitar and plays in open E.

I hope that helps.

There's a "technique" involved?

2 fingers 2 strings (G and B ) and there you go (or "went" cos as mentioned above Bob doesn't play much these days).

Sorry..didn't get the answer I was looking for so let me try to clarify.

I realize Bob shifted focus from guitar to Keyboard for a while.

For lack of a better term ...Bob's guitar soling was/is easy to identify..as least for me. I don't know anybody else that sounds like him. Again he seemed to focus on playing a few notes (two or three) ..as opposed to say a Van Halen type with as many notes as possible. Not that I am an expert on VH. Just want to know the theory behind Dylans soling. Are they notes from subdominent or dominent chords? My theory is not where it needs to be ..but that is another story.

Bob explains his technique in Chronicles. It uses so-called triplets. Quite similar to Ronnie Wood's soloing style. Bob did not play any lead guitar for most of his career. Really picked it up in the mid to late 90s

His "explanation" of the technique he uses for playing solos or whatever in Chronicles to me is indecipherable, I went through countless times and don't understand a single thing he says.
"I don’t know why the number 3 is more metaphysically powerful than the number 2, but it is"
"Popular music is usually based on the number 2"

Sure Bob.
