Sam Cutler April 2012

Saw Sam at Bluesfest at Byron Bay couple of weeks back. He's looking lean, mean but old at the same time. Had a long chat with him in the beer queue!!!! He's written an article about the Stones in the 20th Anniversary special issue of Rythms magazine, pretty good read, basically saying they should get back to what they do best, play the blues and dispatch with all the special effects and the hoopla. Despite what he said in the article, he told me he thinks it won't happen but they will play some big Vegas type shows in 12-13, it's all about the money. He hays no ongoing contact with band or any inside connections.

Bluesfest was awesome, over 3 days saw Buddy Guy, CSN, Earth Wind & Fire(!!), joe Satriani, John Fogerty (played 3 hrs of CCR), Ziggy Marley, Keb Mo, John Hiatt, Pogues, Steve Earle, Angelique Kidjo, Canned Heat, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Specials, Jonny Lang, John Butler etc etc.

However as always at the big festivals it was the smaller bands that shine, in this case it was the Backsliders, awesome blues trio of guitar, harmonica and drums. The drummer is Rob Hirst ex Midnight Oil. Check them out on you Tube ESP great version of Gimme Shelter.

Can't we just go with a gender neutral 'Rockperson'?

Even 'Rock Attendant' might be a nice change of pace.

Would have thought a chance sighting of one of the most notable persons in stones history from their most interesting period might have generated a bit more interest than a few infantile comments.........

No, no, we DO appreciate your input, but when your username is so similar to one of the most popular and prolific posters here, well.....

Haha, yeah, I know exactly how you feel.
This time, though, I happen to know that the people posting in this thread so far are some of the most frequent and Stones-passionate regulars on this forum, so it didn't even occur to me that you'd want some better response. smiling smiley

If you're new here, I promise you'll have a good time if you stay on board. And you'll have to bear with some infantility, for better or worse.

And yes, thanks for your post, it was interesting. Don't have much to comment on, but it was interesting reading.

No worries, that's cool. The only other bit of stones intell I got out of Sam is that he is frequent visitor to this site (a lurker not a poster) and to Rocks Off and other band sites.

Sam mate you owe me a beer Especially at bluesfest prices of $7 can of VB!!!!!!

Save it for the "different kind of Stones fan" thread fingers.

Welcome aboard Rockwoman, beers for the house on me this time. You are in good and respected female company here with the likes of Swaystones, Swiss, Stonesrule and others. As far as the male contingent goes, I'd say run fast, keep your wits about you and of course photos are much appreciated.....lol

A good start would be to scan that article you mention from Rhythm magazine and post it here for all to read, or at least post a link. Mentioning a good article without the link is usually considered a big tease. You only get one chance to make a first impression. peace

I will scan the article once I learn how to post it up here. Meantime you may want to google Rythms magazine website, it may well be available on line.

If you mean post a picture, there is a lot of info here [www.iorr.org]

It is a lot easier than all those words.

Once you get the hang of it, it takes 1-2 minutes including uploading the picture from your computer, I do it all the time in 20 seconds flat.

You have to post(upload) your picture on the web somewhere
and then use the command code to "pull the picture in" from the web...
use the code [ i m g ] www . whereyourphotois . com [ / i m g ] without the spaces
to have your picture display on the board here.

I use [tinypic.com] to upload my picture for free,
no muss, no fuss, no sign up BS. Use the website to browse
your computer for your picture... then you hit upload. It will
then display link for you to use. I use the bottom link,
copy and paste it into another open window to make sure it
works... then use [ i m g ] www . whereyourphotois . com [ / i m g ]
BUT DO NOT PUT THE EXTRA SPACES IN... I have to use the spaces
or it thinks I am trying to posting a picture....

It talks about it here on the help page... [www.iorr.org]

It is easy, you will see after you do it a couple of times...

If you want to "borrow" a picture from a web site,
right click it to find the www . whereyourphotois . com
and then copy/pate it in between the [ i m g ] ....[ / i m g ] .

Hope it works.... if not ask questions....

Re: Sam Cutler April 2012

upload your picture to the internet somewhere....

once it is parked somewhere.....

then use the code [ i m g ] your picture location [ / i m g ] in you message here to show th picture.

I just found this picture "out there....

http: //assets.rollingstone.com/assets/images/artists/304x304/mick-jagger. jpg

and posted it here by using the code brackets.. it is easy

if you want to see the way it looks, use the QUOTE THIS MESSAGE button right below this box and it will show you what it looks like when you type the message

Hi Sam! I see that Roger Taylor has issued a denial that the holographic lead
singer you are working on is Freddy Mercury. But it was kind of a half-hearted
denial, sort of a "I wouldn't feel comfortable with it" statement, which
leaves Roger plenty of room later to say, "But wow! When I finally saw the finished
product, it was so good, I warmed right up to the idea!"

All the best, revvy

P.S. I thought you looked very handsome in Gimme Shelter

Speaking of another ex Stones employee I went to the Chip Monck photo exhibition in Fitzroy last weekend where he had some great backstage photos of the European tour of 1970 and some USA '69 pics. Also on show were gold records & cassette awarded for Sticky Fingers & Exile.
