Lately I have become fascinated with this most un-Fender of Fender guitars and I'm thinking of tracking one down. Especially interesting are the Wildwood finishes, where they actually injected die into tress before they were harvested. Not very environmentally correct by today's standards, but it made for some amazing looking instruments.
Anybody here have one of these, or played one?

I've heard of them but never played one. I think Elvis used to use one in his movies, Speedway, Spinout or whatever (definitely not A Change of Habit!).
I think McCartney uses one these days, he mentioned the guitar by name when I saw him at the O2 Arena Christmas before last - don't know why. He played it on one particular song, and mentioned it in passing as he was introducing the song. Don't ask me which song, I can't recall !!
Quote BowieStone Paul always introduces his Epiphone Casino before playing Paperback Writer, because it's very same one he used on the original recording.
Totally correct, I f***ed up in what I said in my earlier post. McCartney was indeed talking about the Epiphone Casino, not the Fender Coronado .... whoops !!
