How or why did Brian learn German?

A very good pronounciation. Jones seemed to be an educated and capable man when the Stones started, he fell later on as we know.

Well, Anita? German actress? Brian did the music for the movie A Degree Of Murder (1966) with Anita , made by Volker Schlöndorf.

Did it had to do with Brian dating Anita and ended up composing the film score for the German-made film "A Degree Of Murder" (Mord Und Totschalg) which starred Anita ?

Brian's Father also spoke german very well! He worked sometimes in Germany.

From what I've read, Brian was a very bright guy.

Picking up some German would probably not have been that difficult for him.

He knew quite a bit about Musical theory which he would use on different instruments.

That's one of the reasons how he could pick them up pretty quick.

There is an interview with Brian explaining how he applies Music Theory to the Sitar and Brian is no hack.

According to Ian Stewart, Brian was playing Django like guitar early on which is not easy to play.

So much for Brian being a hack on guitar.

In the Stones, Brian and Keith seemed to have an understanding where Keith took the solos which were mostly in the Chuck Berry style and Brian took the slide solos more in a Blues style.

Brian would have been capable of playing solos with no slide but Keith was doing them.

Brian also seems to have got bored easily which is probably why he ended up in the Stones in the first place and he eventually got bored with the Stones and guitar as well.

You are probably right.

I learnt German in Ealing Grammar school in 1962, it was either that or Latin, we all took German. I assume all the other secondary schools in that time frame (50s-60s) taught the same stuff so Brian's command of German would have been typical of that generation. England being so close to Europe, a basic knowledge of French & German was pretty well obligatory.

He probably just read a short text someone had written for him. His pronunciation sounds right but German isn't that difficult to speak, is it? Not a big deal. Just a bit of practice.
