Charlie Watts the Most Respected Member of a Band
Date: February 2, 2012 01:59

The respect and love shown towards Charlie not only from the other Stones but fans as well is not often seen in alot of bands especially nowadays.
So what other musicians have been shown that sort of respect from the other members?

I don't know but for me it is:

I would guess a low profile pays off in the end!

Charlie has also placed #22 (out of 50) this year on GQ's Best Dressed list.

I think Mick should also have been chosen, since he always wears L'Wren's latest designs.

I would love to go to Charlie's tailors in London, and buy myself a suit.

Charlie, bar from 1983 -1986, has always been good; more than good as a musician and as a sartorial genius.

If it wasn't for Charlie, I wouldn't have been hipped to Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, and Billy Cobham. I love the solo drum album he did with Jim Keltner, and his appearance with the Uptown Horns on Tonight at Noon from Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus is great too.

Charlie appears blessed with ability to divorce the unreal position he's occupied as a Rolling Stone [ & therefore global superstar] from his real self.

He always appears to be totally unaffected by it,actively acknowledging the ridiculousness of it all.

He's probably excatly the same guy he'd have been if he'd become a graphic artist...only with a bit more money ;^)

This very healthy outlook has enabled him to retain his dignity and the wide respect he's held in by his peers and fans alike.

I don't know but for me it is:

I equally respect each Rolling Stone but its probably Charlie who the other Stones lovingly fuss over the most.

Ringo Starr and George Harrison come to mind.
