Can someone (Gazza?) tell what the rules are here for a thread to be tagged "new", in the little red font. It seems very subjective, I see that some are immediately tagged new and some great new ones never see the tag, and some really old ones keep the tag. Someone's personal taste is obviously involved here, it is the moderator? peace.

No, the 'new' just means that you haven't clicked the thread yet or that there is a new post since you clicked last time.
