I'm pretty sure the Stones started the Mayan 2012 rumor as a smokescreen.

I've read articles where Keith said he didnt want Satisfaction to be a single cause he didnt think it was that good (at the time)

Yeah, I've heard him say the same thing. I think it may have been in one of those "Ask Keith" interviews, but he basically said it was a work in progress, not intended to be a single, and it was released without his knowledge. He also said the guitar riff was just supposed to be a guide for a horn section, and not intended to be in the finished product. Who knows.
