are we talking 'White House' or 'Lincoln Monument' type flights or your average apartment building?

I loved how Phelge bookends his memoir, if you can call it that, with his reacquaintance with the band in '95.

Lots of personal detail and the reader does get a feel for the people and the times but without much reflection, giving it less an overall historical perspective, which is fine, 'cuz plenty of eggheads have tried to inject social commentary into Stones pathos. THAT gets old. Instead of that, this is a character-driven story, we have real people doing stuff that many of us can relate to.

Phelge also seems to have filed the edges since I'm sure the skirmishes between people were a bit more marked than he lets on. Ah ... the passing of time.

Of note are his reminiscings of Brian, who gets laid flat in "Life". Here Phelge does give some perspective on Jones' estrangement from the band despite dropping from the scene around 1966.
