Going to his show on August 19th.

I believe he'll be accompanied by a guitarist.

Hey Gazza - I saw Ron Wood on Palladia TV last week. Ohh la la was performed and there was a flat-out blistering jam on Stay With Me.....

Is that recent? ...it was outstanding!!

Do you have any pics of that place or surroundings?

Nice pic. It looks a cozy place to enjoy a show.

The venue is upstairs. Tiny place, with a small stage. Doubt it could hold more than about 120-130.

The 'Real Music Club' gets a lot of good Americana-based acts. Steve Earle has even played solo gigs there a couple of times when he's been in town on a night off froma Dukes tour. James McMurtry did two shows there a few months apart in 2009 - Mac was in his band on the first of them.

Has Van Morrison ever played there. He is one musician I would love to see. Seems he never plays our area anymore. At least in about 30 years or so.

No, he hasnt. Its literally just a bar with a stage that could barely hold a four-piece..

He hasnt performed in Belfast now for four and a half years either, and he's been pretty much invisible for most of the last year until he played that festival I attended at Finsbury park in London last month. Hasnt made a record in 3 years either - which is unlike him.

He's playing a couple of UK gigs in September (Liverpool & Birmingham) so maybe he's going to be a bit more active again. Doesnt seem to play many dates in the US anymore at all outside the main markets on each coast.

Exactly. Every time I came across a gig of his it is either in California or NY City. Have you ever seen him in a club setting of any kind?

No, I havent. Smallest place I'd have seen him would have been the Grand Opera House in Belfast when he cut a live album there in '83 (he played four nights) and again in '91. Guess it holds about 1,200 or so.

Since the Waterfront Hall opened in '97, thats where hes done most of his shows here. Holds about 2,400.

One more thing if you have time, is that Scottish band The Proclaimers still active over there? Can't recall them touring the states in upstate NY either.

Lots of videos now up on YouTube from two different evenings at the Half Moon: I was there on Friday 5th and it was a very enjoyable evening. Just Mac and his bass player, doing mostly songs from his solo albums with two or three Faces songs thrown in.

Search for Ian McLagan on YouTube and you'll find a lot more.

Went to see Ian McLagen at the Cluny in Newcastle last night. Great evening. His voice is strong and his keyboard playing as great as ever. Great banter with the crowd. He very clearly said that there will be more Faces dates in 2012.
