New Rhythm Kings CD: Live Communication 19/9/11

That’s Rock And Roll!’ It’s also Rhythm & Blues and good time music when Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings hit the stage and start rockin’. One the best ways to capture the excitement of the Kings is see them ‘live’, and this energetic new 13-track CD captures the Rhythm Kings in action on their sell out 2008 UK tour. Says guitarist Terry Taylor: “It was an enjoyable tour, the sound was great and the playing was very tight. We recorded the last show at Dorking Halls on March 5th. It turned out great, so Bill was keen to put it out on an album.” The nine piece Rhythm Kings include Dennis Locorriere (vocals and guitar) formerly with Dr. Hook & The Medicine Men. The Kings also featured outstanding lead guitarist Albert Lee, vocalist Beverly Skeet (vocals), Geraint Watkins (piano and accordion), Graham Broad (drums), Nick Payne and Frank Mead (saxophones) and Mr. Wyman himself on bass guitar and vocals.

The band storms through rootsy favourites, by artists ranging from Wilson Pickett to the Everly Brothers and Chuck Berry. Among the highlights are the ballad ‘Drown In My Own Tears’, a funky ‘Harlem Shuffle’, ‘Johnny B.Goode’ and, of course, ‘That’s Rock And Roll’.

Mastered by Jon Astley. Superb live atmospheric sound and top quality reproduction

John Mayall : In The Shadow Of Legends 2CD

The story of this vibrant night of Blues, recorded over a decade after the so-called "Blues Boom" in the UK stimulated a worldwide rediscovery of the roots of Rock 'N' Roll, is the story of John Mayall, the pioneer of British Blues, and roving global ambassador fro the genre.

Memphis and Chicago Blues legends joined British Blues icon John Mayall and his Bluesbreakers on stage, one special night in June 1982 at New Jersey's Capitol Theater. The concert turned out to be a summitgathering of some of the greatest names in Blues music, when guitarists Albert King and Buddy Guy,harmonica player Junior Wells and singers Etta James and Sippie Wallace, all showed up to sit in with the band.

That night musical history was written when John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, featuring former Bluesbreaker and one-time Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, bassist John McVie (Bluesbreakers, Fleetwood Mac), anddrummer Colin Allen (Bob Dylan, Solomon Burke), paid homage to, and played with these five immortals of the genre.
