Jagger's Brown Sugar

The good thing about not being a truly diehard fan (compared to some of the posters here I wouldn't even consider myself a fan ...) is that I still find new things to see / listen.

The other day I got the Shelter DVD and yestrday I saw the bonuses for the first time. Well, I had seen some video on you tube of the mixing of little queenie, but Jagger singing/playing Sugar to Tina? First time ever! I didn't even expect it.

What do you think, is this how Jagger composed the song? Is this what he played to the band the first time he presented the song?

If so, only two comments. 1) Keith is King. 2) Also the "Jagger version" is great, and in particular the chorus. They should have changed the lyrics and key and recorded it as a different song.

Jagger says that he wrote the basic idea when he was filming Ned Kelly...

Isn't he meant to have written it about Marsha Hunt?

Liddas,
I love that bonus feature. Mick can play a little on that guitar. Tina's reaction is great, too.

Yes. According to Marsha's book, he would write her love letters from the set of Ned Kelly, and in one of them he told her he wrote a song called Brown Sugar about her.

Of what I heard it was written about Claudia Lennear.
She was in the Ikettes and with Joe Cocker's/Leon Russel's 'Mad Dogs And Englishmen'.
