OT - My list of bands for my first Bonnaroo!

My oldest son has been for the past seven years, my youngest the past two, so the wife and I are packing up the tie dye t shirts and heading to Tennessee next week!

Some of these artists I'm sure I'll just hear for a handful of songs before moving on to the next show, but here is the plan for now:

THURSDAY
The Walkmen
Deer Hunter

FRIDAY
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Warren Haynes Band
The Decemberists
Florence + the Machine
My Morning Jacket
Arcade Fire

SATURDAY
Old Crow Medicine Show
Allison Krauss and Union Station
Mumford & Sons
Loretta Lynn
The Black Keys
Buffalo Springfield
Eminem (OK, not a fan, but, who could miss seeing at least a couple of songs?)
Scissor Sisters
Dr. John with the Original Meters and Allen Toussaint
Gogol Bordello

SUNDAY (if I have any energy or ears left at that point!)
Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers
Gregg Allman
Robert Plant and Band of Joy
The Strokes
Explosions in the Sky
Widespread Panic

I'll get back to Atlanta sometime on Monday and probably sleep about three days!

Any other IORR folks going?

Have a great time and pace yourself.

If you have the energy, add Wanda Jackson and Mavis Staples to the list!

Stay cool.

Average age of the musicians in this band: 66
The last time they toured, Robert F. Kennedy was running for president.

Buffalo Springfield was supposed to be my very first rock concert. It was 1968, I was in the seventh grade, and my girlfriend's mom was going to drive us to Greensboro, NC, to see them along with the Beach Boys and the Strawberry Alarm Clock (man, that just DRIPS 1968, doesn't it?).

The concert was scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, but on Thursday, April 4th, Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot. There was so much unrest in those days immediately following the shooting that the concert was cancelled.

I had to wait until January 1970 for that first concert, which was the Association, at Virginia Tech (remember "Windy"...."Cherish"...."Never My Love" ... )

I've seen Crosby and Nash together (Appalachian State, 1973), but never Stills and Young, so finally seeing Buffalo Springfield will take care of that.

Looks like friday is the best day. Some of the hottest newest bands. Plus Warren Haynes is always great.

Yeah, I love his stuff with Gov't Mule. I saw him in 2004 when he was touring with the Dead. I also saw him in David Allen Coe's band when they opened for the Allman Brothers here in Atlanta in 1981, pretty much just getting started then.

I understand his new project is more of an r&b sound.

Definitely check out Warren Haynes. Saw him in 2009 playing Jerry's part with the Dead and he was tremendous!
