What were the reasons for them not doing us back than?
I still feel sad about it...i was so ready....who knows something? so why no 1980 tour? what a stupid thread oh mi

The thread was long and contentious, but in the end the consensus was that they couldn't bear to tour with Mick disguised as Grizzly Adams.

They could have done the odd foc-in festival...to avoid all trouble...guess they didnt want to perform?
i do remember there was rumours about a farewell show in rio( dressed in white)

For years, they seemed to space their US Tours (at least) 3 years apart, giving them lots of new material for each tour, and letting anticipation build. I think one of the reasons their concerts were really 'events'.

1969, 1972, 1975, 1978, 1981

There were a few odd shows that didn't conform to that schedule, but for the most part 3 year breaks were the norm, at least in the US.

Yes, but in each case the US leg of the tour was followed by a European one the following year: 1970, 1973, 1976. They broke this pattern by not doing a European tour in '79 -I guess due mainly to Keith's legal problems. In fact, after Knebworth '78 they didn't play again in Europe until the 1982 tour....
