It was not released by Sony but by Esoteric Records.
I don't know it was authorized or not, may be Malcolm Dome knows the fact.
Anyway, it was good anthology.

Comes official or unofficial, sound quality was way better.
I reconfirmed Felix Pappalardi was a genius.

i got the OVER THE TOP compilation instead. lots of reasons why.
1 its released by sony which is the bands label
2 its listed on the bands official website
3 it covers 1969-1995 instead on just 1970-1974
4 it has a few rare/unreleased live tracks
5 it has 2 songs recorded just for the OVER THE TOP compilation
6 it has almost every track from leslie west mountain, climbing and nantucket sleighride

there are a few drawbacks with OVER THE TOP though:
1 short on live material. this band was known as a live bad yet very little live stuff on here
2 missing their great cover of the rolling stones "satisfaction" from the album avalanche
3 GO FOR YOUR LIFE was not a great album but why did they leave off the most well known tune from that album "hard times"

My only complaint about the live disc of Crossroader is that it includes the Twin Peaks version of Nantucket Sleighride with Allan Schwartzberg on drums instead of the The Road Goes Ever On version with the great Corky Laing. The 33-minute Twin Peaks version runs way too long, while the 17-minute The Road Goes Ever On shows just how well the classic lineup of Mountain could jam.

oh well its a shame a great band like MOUNTAIN can't get a boxset or even a 2 disc anthology that shows off the bands entire career and doesn't overlook the fact the band was great live (which OVER THE TOP skips over) or anything released after the 70's (which CROSSROADER does).

this is what the tracklisting for OVER THE TOP should have been in 1995:

1 Blind Man 3:50
2 Southbound Train 2:57

8 Stormy Monday (live) 19:30
9 Guitar solo(live) 5:43
Previously unreleased on a mountain album

10 Don't Look Around 3:47
11 Taunta (Sammy's Tune) 1:00
12 Nantucket Sleighride (To Owen Coffin) 5:55
13 The Animal Trainer And The Toad 3:29
14 Travellin' In The Dark (To E.M.P.) 4:26
15 The Great Train Robbery 5:50
From Nantucket Sleighride

Disc 2
1 Flowers of Evil 4:52
2 King's Chorale 1:04
3 Crossroader 4:53
