Great cover versions of Stones songs

Bryan Ferry's splendid version of Sympathy for the Devil (played over clips of Gary Oldman films), with Bryan as an elegant, leering Satan. Denser than the original, with an interesting change to the backing vocals. His cackle at the fourth minute makes me smile every time I hear it:

David Bowie's Let's Spend the Night Together, with Mick Ronson on top form:

Campy, butch, brittle and brilliant.

'But our love comes from above' BRRREWGH!
'Let's make... love' BRRREWGH!

I always liked Rusted Root's version of YCAGWYW, and of course any of The Black Crowes' covers are stupendous.

Marvelous version of Sympathy For the Devil, but you need to have patience to sit out the French intro (best is to start straight from 1;15 into the song) but than...yes than.

Didn't know about that one. I'd love to hear 'the Possum' sing Time is on My Side!

I'm not sure if this really counts as Jagger/Richards - I think - wrote this track with other artists in mind - I.E., they didn't ever intend to release their very-own rendition. Nevertheless, I think this is smashing, personally.

Mitch Ryder and Detroit did a great cover of Gimme Shelter

Devo's 'Satisfaction' works because it's a reconstruction. Otis Redding's version is good too (and the Stones copied it's style live sometimes). Heard Dylan's band do 'Brown Sugar' at the Wiltern Theatre in L.A. in 2005, and it sounded great. It seems like you almost have to come up with a different arrangement or it's rather pointless.

I've just finished the Orchestra National de Barbés' Sympathy for the Devil. Brilliant.

Here's Marie Laforêt's Marie-douceur, Marie-colère, adapted from Paint It, Black:

Heart of Stone by Neon Leon. Of course, it helps that Mick Jagger assisted in vocals towards the end, but still chunky and fun.

Way back in the day, a band from Kingston called the Tragicaly Hip did a killer version of "Ïf You Can't Rock Me.." at the old Manor....great stuff.. (sorry - no video - was back in the 80's and was at a local bar.....)

I concur w/Alejandro's "Sway" posted above, it is outstanding. He also does a great version of "Evening Gown".

This is a unique choice and arrangement:

better live:

And Dylan's "Brown Sugar" shows what a great band he has:
