Criss Cross Man

What a great song this is! What era is this song from? I know it is all too familiar with hardcore fans, but why not record a new and fresh version of this and release it on the new album. Before you start screaming that its not new...remember how old Start Me Up was before it was released in 81. Criss Cross Man is a great, great song. Not making this an official release is a waste.

It's from Nov-Dec. 1972 Jamaica studios. A.K.A. Save me, but the work title is Criss Cross (not Criss Cross Man). Four versions exist (one take is only available from a soundtrack of a rare Japanese film. So in fact, it is an official release!). Hopkins on piano.

I like it Criss Cross too. BTW, what do you think about Goats Head Reheated? I think the sound is much better, and I prefer listen to the "reheated" version. I have always felt Goats Head Soup's sound quality has been a weakness, and I also think it's bad produced.

GHS is really a Jagger/Taylor album. So much more melody than a Jagger/Richards album. This gives it it's 'slick' sound. Coming from Sticky fingers and Exile, witch are much rougher, it's sounds 'overproduced'. But it's just a different approach.

I like the songs, I think the potensial is really big. But honest it could have sounded better, I have always said that and got it confirmed when I listened through Goats Head Reheated. But that's my words.

The lyric (and possible title) is actually "Criss Cross MIND", and NOT "Criss Cross Man"

"giving me a criss cross man" makes no sense.

It's also called "Save Me".

Only by bootleggers, though.

"Criss Cross" seems to be the correct title, however

how long does this song go for??
I have 2 versions, one slightly longer than the other, but they are very short (2 minutes or so from memory).

Does a complete song exist? It sounds like both of my versions are faded out and there's plenty of versus left....

The longest version runs 4:31 (on Fast Talking)
Version I / II / IV are complete.
Version III (with Sax) runs 1:36 and is faded (on Mad Shadows)

That sounds like an act of sexual deviance.
