Might As Well Get Juiced: song meaning, analysis
Posted by: Amused ()

I can't understand its meaning at all, yet the lyrics are quite disturbing and it got me thinking winking smiley
your comments on those lyrics?

If you really want to rip up your mind
If you want to take the lid off your life
If you want to reach on down in the sump
Take the last dregs off the camel's back hump

And the wolves are howling right at your door
And the vultures want to tear off some more
And your flesh is burning right off your bones
Your children kick you out of your home

If you really want to tear up your mind
If you really want to get yourself blind
Might as well get juiced

Hey mama, what's this crazy game of sevens, eights and nines?
I can't keep up with you baby
I'm going to give you such a piece of my mind
When I get around to it

Cause, honey, I'm abused
Might as well get juiced
Yeah

If you really want to melt down your mind
Crank it up to straight double time
If you really want to have you some fun
Spit right down on everyone

If you've got the strength to scream out "Hell why?"
The wheel of life is passing you by
You might as well get juiced

Some people like to get high on love
Buss it off with alcohol
Give me a little taste of those fumes, yeah
I need a little boost because...
The sweet things in life
How am I going to survive?

I might as well get juiced
Just a little bit confused

All right

Hey mama, what's this crazy game of sevens, eights and nines?

This is an intriguing lyric. Possibly a gambling reference?

It's either about Ronnie Wood or Keith . I was living in L.A. at the time they were recording this and I used to hang out at Sunset and Gower when Mick would arrive to record . And then I was at this little bistro in Silverlake and the waitress was freaking out because Mick had just been there . The album they were recording was Bridges . The Dust Brothers had a studio up in Silverlake where Mick and Mick alone would go and record . This is what the Waitress told me . I love this song !!

The Dust Bros bonus feature on Disc-5 of the
Just For The Record DVD set is hilarious .....Worth the price of admittance ....

Lyric validates DD's comment on "free basing" cocaine.

Seven eights and nines - Mick borrowing from himself.

A very bland song.

I think the underlying implication of the song is that the writer(s) can only tolerate and possibly enjoy the presence pf a companion if it is fueled by booze and mothers little helpers--whatever those may be...one of the weaker points of Bridges

The lyrics sound like over-use of a rhyming dictionary

No offense

What lyrics should be changed and your suggestions?

Quite the opposite i think this is one of the best late jagger lyrics where the cheesy easy rhymes are used less given the "bluesy" format of the song

How many of you hear progressive-rock influences from those synthesizer sweeps here and there? Just listen to the beginning of it and you will start to wonder why the Stones didn't write more stuff like this.

song meaning: some sly shit that borrows from himself. Probably some winking comment about Keith and Ronnie. Or not. Maybe just another nostalgic slice of crap.

analysis: crap. This is the sound of watching paint dry.

The throbbing synthesizer at the end is supposed to sound like someone getting ready to vomit - a nice nod to the lyrics about a life wasted by over-indulgence.

"Hey mama, what's this crazy game of sevens, eights and nines?"

It's a crazy game of fives around here lately.

For years, I agreed with Keith's comments at the time that the good version was straight blues and that Mick let the Dust Brothers ruin the song. I've since come to appreciate this number as is. I still love both VOODOO LOUNGE and BRIDGES TO BABYLON. For me, those are their late period masterpieces.

How come the mixes (or takes or whatever else) Keith likes never get released? I was under the impression that he actually sort of liked the Babyface version of Already Over Me.

If the legend is true, Keith hated the Babyface version and Mick agreed it didn't work so they re-cut it with Don Was as a What If "Wild Horses" Had Been Written By The Bee Gees experiment.

I read that babyface worked on Already over me NOT M.A.W.G.J. .. he tried to trn it into another wild horses..

But in regards to M.A.W.G.J. & B2B. I think it's a later day experiment w/ new sounds and it paid off!! love it! they hadn't done that since Undercover!

All the Dust Bros. and Babyface experiments and the like are things that I would prefer to just pretend never happened. The best thing about the Voodoo and Babylon CD's is that they make handy drinks coasters.

Yeah I know Babyface didn't do Juiced. I couldn't remember the deal about Already Over Me. I thought Keith knew it was a waste of time to do it from the get go and then got mad at Mick for not even bothering with it after bothering with it. Something along those lines. I know Keith said he said to Babyface 'Well yer gonna be Fuckface if you work with him' about Mick.

Maybe I shouldn't be curious to hear it then.

Still would like to hear the version of Juiced Keith talked about.

Don't think this song can lend itself to much deep analysis and deconstruction.

Basically it's about getting off your tits.

the dust brothers are great, all the songs they produced are fresh and good.
they should work more with modern day producers.

don was is just boring and so are the stones with him.

It was Mick's "pre"-dig at Keith's dig at Mick for his tiny todger comment in LIFE...
