Interesting to read Keith's comments about studio version.

Barney Hoskins interveiw with Keith Richards MOJO #48 November 1997

BH: I heard that you weren't too enarmoured of the Dust Brothers' approach to recording, but Might As Well Get Juiced really Cooks

Keith: Yeah, but I got a monster version of Juiced that really cooks like a mother, maaaaaaaan. It's still an interesting trip, if you dunno you got another in the can that burn the @#$%& outta that one! y'dig? Actually, I had very little to do with them. I'm like, "Whaddya want me to do?" And they're like, "Oh, just do what you always do." I'm thinking, That's producing?!?

I wrote the song with all these keyboard sounds. That's how it was written, with all this noise going on. Nnnnnnnn. So I had great fun doing that.

I was there at MSG when they played it live - sounded pretty good to me at the time and it went down well with the audience. Not really sure why it was dropped completely. Real suprise to hear it though. In fact those 3 MSG gigs really were special, setlists were quite varied and the band really was ON.

Bernard and Blondie also played it at Stone's Place for Keith's birthday 2 years ago. Sounded great.

The MSG live version does not sound so much different to the BTB studio version. But it's great!

Its interesting that when you watch the video of that MSG show, that at the end of it Keith (or was it Ronnie, its been a while since I watched it) turns to Mick and makes a "cut throat" gesture, as if to say "well, that didnt work, did it?"

They never played it again. Pity. I thought it was a pretty decent version.

I was there. It was a great raw and heavy version of JUICED. It filled the entire house. The last night of three at MSG. See the revies from that night with JUICED... [iorr.org]

Now you know why MSG is high up on the list of many Stones fans if they can travel... The place the Stones take some extra risks... The place the fans appreciate it... The place you can feel the roof is lifting as the crowd is going wild...

I'll retract my previous comment that it was a 'pretty decent version'.

It was much better than that. Smokin' guitar work!

Doing "Juiced" on stage was maybe the last "real band" thing they've done. That and maybe the reworking of "19th Nervous Breakdown" on the ABB tour. Both of these never played ever again. Doing "Juiced" was a huge leap of faith on their part. It was sort of awkward but definitely frazzled with nervous energy. Guitars wailing and doing what they could with the tools at hand. It's too bad the band thinks this level of playing is beneath them.

I was there that night and the crowd seemed to enjoy it very much. The title lyrics went over very well with the audience. In fairness there was a fair amount of drink being imbibed.

I have fond memories of that night and am afraid to watch the video clip with a 'throat cutting gesture' at the end.
