smileys with beer
that bit about 'wongin' the pog'.."they're wongin' the pog ain't they"...

a little Stones phraseology that brings a smile if not a lol. for me anyway!

Yeah one of the few entertaining parts of Life is some of the British slang keith uses. Thought I had heard most of it here on IORR. But thier are a few colorful expressions I liked. Espicially WTP.

in Keith's book (can't cite the page number at the moment) it kinda sounds like they made it up..the young Stones...referring to people going crazy at their gigs..

it sounds like a phrase for masterbation.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Wongin' the WOT?

I've been a Londoner for sixty years and I never heard of it until "Life". Must be something they made up - unless it's some bit of obscure Kentish dialect!

Good though.

Wonging means to make a large amount of money, don't it ?

Keith Richards’ diary, Friday 15, 1963 Red Lion Can’t get any sound out of this place Punch up during session Effered Richmond Station Hotel every su. from coming sun. Windfall. On the inside cover of the diary is written the phrase « Wongin’ the pog. » And next to that, under the personal-notes section, « In case of Accident Please Inform », I’ve written, « My Mum ». No details. « Wongin’ the pog » was when we’d look at all these people dancing around, hanging from rafters, going crazy. « What are they doing? » « They’re wongin’ the pog, ain’t they? » « At least we got them wongin’ the pog. » It meant you got paid. The gigs were getting tight and hot.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

There you go...2nd definition down....Wonging...."Making loads of money"

Pog....."shit" & "People with gross sensibilties" & "ugly people" (Picture Of Grace.....Sarcastic...)

In other words "making loads of cash out of the lowlifes or plebs".......mind you reading swaystones post it doesn't look like Keith knew what it means.....??
