I was just watching the hyde park video of honky tonk women. I noticed there was a Hell's Angels jacket in the video. Was some of the footage in that video from Altamont?

I read somewhere that since the Angels had done a satisfactory job at Hyde Park, the Stones also hired them for Altamont.

I read this too - seems the UK angels were a bunch of pussycats compared to the Oakland chapter, unfortunately Mick didn't realise this until it was all too late...

The odd thing is that even after Altamont - at least in Europe - H. Angels and other groups were still engaged as security on 70 and 73 tours.
But the whole promoting and security system was still completly different to today.

Oh, they were a real tough bunch...

(Mirrorpix, from the "Stones In The Park" book)

No, the British "Hells Angels" seem to have been a much gentler imitation of the US version, more into the leathers and denim and Nazi badges as a style statement than anything else. Actually they probably didn't have much of a tough job to do in Hyde Park - a lovely sunny summer day, everybody more or less in a good mood, in the middle of the city with the real police unobtrusively present if anything had gone seriously wrong. Whereas Altamont was freezing cold, out of control, in the middle of nowhere, with some nasty drug vibes to help things along.

I love the Hyde Park Hells Angels. They were doing a real cool dance during the Stones show.

Werent the British angels drinking cups of tea and being polite to the crowd - whereas the US angels were on acid, beer and swinging pool cues?
